It’s very cool, and very sexy on the surface. I see many situations where clients would forget how to use it and woukd end up with sticky notes above the controls on the surface.
Installation hell, too. Look at all those perfectly uniform slots in the tile, with their perfect edges. And all those slots are at precise spacings from one another. Know anybody with a computer-programmable laser tile cutter that can do 1/8" slots? Maybe it exists and this would be simple. I'm literally asking about this.

I don’t think they are slots. Looking at their website it looks like the sensor goes behind or under the surface. I think what looks like slots are just marks to show the locations to touch. Now the one where the LEDs show up, yeah, a real nightmare to line up
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.
I would bet close to 100% of customers would want it installed in a specif spot only to change their mind in 2 months because they are never actually near that specific spot as much as they thought they would be. nothing but a "wow" gimmick in my eyes
I AM responsible for typographical errors! I have all the money I will ever need - unless i buy something..

Great point. And how often, when you put a laptop down and open it, do you leave it exactly where you put it without adjusting it slightly? You weren't trying to put it down wrong, you just found you needed it moved a tiny bit.
Left-handers are notorious for needing writing things at a slight angle, and sometimes as much as 90 degrees from normal, but those shown in the demo are perfectly aligned with the table and tile edges. These are not for real people.

I'd love to see a list of ten Best Of award products that were great successes and ten of them that sucked. I'm sure there are plenty in both categories.

I thought the future was everyone yelling at little objects on tables. Just skip this and start yelling commands at tables. I will be amazed when I ask Alexis to clear the table and it happens. Jetsons?
Installation nightmare. Non-intuitive interface with no feedback. Servicing nightmare. Fixed location installation. Trying to change people's behavior with a new interface. Voice control becoming more common each day. Price?
When I’m working on something, I spread papers everywhere. I’d end up covering the user interface.
Easy? Since there are no buttons, this must be “simple”, right? All I need to do is learn how many thumps and where to thump. That blank square the feel good website presented was so inspiring. Everyone knows that you thump a square a few times in a corner and change the temperature, play music, or whatever. Maybe the thing works with Morse Code and one button does everything. A visiting relative will instantly know what to do.
