The gnarly one is organizing several lengths and types of cables. HDMI, network patch cables, analog audio, toslink.

These are great for that:

You have to buy the container, dividers, and lid separate.

About 15+ years ago, AVAD would give you one of those tubs if you placed a huge order of ProFlex cables. It had labels under the clear plastic lid, to show what was in each bin.
Although the ProFlex cables didn't meet my expectations, I loved the tub.

Wow, that's pretty neat!

What is that apparent container or ?? unit that the boxes are stacked in? How do the boxes stack? It looks like the bottom box has the weight of nine other boxes on it, so removal and replacement would be pretty hard. (On the other hand, you'd find out pretty quickly which boxes you use the most!) Are there some kinds of side rails on the inside of whatever it is that they're stacked in?

Hi Ernie, the container is from Ranger Designs and is called a "Partskeeper"  I've got the big tall one, but hey have a bunch of different sizes to hold the parts boxes.  There are rails on the side so individual boxes can be easily pulled out.  The container also has a locking mechanism to keep all the boxes from sliding out if you have to brake hard:

I’ve used these with good luck. Have another size that’s reversible as well. Usually on sale on Black Friday. The ones I’ve had are 2 years old and are still holding up 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve tried plenty of tackle boxes and they all break. Now we use these. [Link: homedepot.com]

I just realized looking at this one that while reading all these responses I have ignored the fact that the ones I'm now using have molded plastic clips to keep the lid down. Those clips are a VERY weak point in the design. Two of the six containers I've used have become useless because of those clips breaking.

I've used Plano boxes and they LAST. In fact, the two boxes I have worked for me for more than ten years each. Plano even supplied some replacement parts when one of them wore completely down!Time to go look at them again.

But I think this type of box is the way to go.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I tried Plano, and only got about 3 years out of the best ones. But they took some serious abuse from coworkers.

I've ha the Stanley for a while but have replaced a few when the plastic latch breaks. We also have a couple of these Husky models and so far they have held up well.

I'd get something with metal latches like these, Dewalt or Milwaukee

Carrying multiple boxes of the same wire makes no sense. Thats just a waste of space and weight. That said, I LOVE my home depot on wheels and will likely never change it. Prior to, I was constantly having to go back to office or the store to get something. No more. Pays for itself. Would never be without it, ever. Diff strokes, diff folks.

As a blanket rule, doing it all the time makes no sense, but it's note quite that simple.

If you know you'll have multiple runs to pull, I think three boxes is about right. Or imagine you have a box of a thousand feet and you know you need to make five runs of a hundred feet each in the same conduit (or along the same path). Pulling out and cutting four separate pieces of wire, a hundred feet long, is insane to deal with!

And if you're not exactly sure of the length, pulling from multiple boxes means you don't HAVE to work out the length before pulling anything.

Of course, this doesn't always work perfectly, but it's way better than pulling from one box.

Just got a work order to remove over 280 DirecTV receivers from two hotels. Bought this Milwaukee Packout to wheel the receivers from the rooms to the truck.
After this job I am sure that I will be able to put it to good use.

I was just looking at these yesterday. My cousins husband is going to help me put up a fence in the back yard and he wont accept any money so i was thinking about getting him a new tool box.
