cute PDF is your friend for Excel.

Otherwise just use Portal. If you do good/better/best, set them up as different rooms, super easy. Much easier than Excel...

You know, I signed up for Portal but I havnt taken the time to set
It up and get to know it. I really should. It's just that I have enough of these systems set up that it takes me very little time to make adjustments for a new job. It's just that it's not enough of a pain to do what I do now. I'm sure if I got to start using Portal I would never go back.

You have not spoken truer words :)

I don't remember much for setup, just sending a couple invoices to match you and your distys.

Seriously Craig, do it! It is literally the new sliced bread. I can do a proposal in a heartbeat and the notifications are the bees knees. It is so good!

So true! Just the brainpower saved in (compared to the old Excel days) "did they get my email?" , "did they get my quote?" , do I have too many attachments, yada yada yada.

You can sleep better at night knowing the bid is sent and you know the minute they open it. Easy for follow up and customer service other contractors can't provide.

Any time I work in Excel and I need to send the document to a client, I always click on Print Preview, to make sure nothing will be included that I don't want them to see.

It's possible to look at Print Preview and then do something that results in the entire document being given to the client. In particular, if you look at preview, then save, then email the document, you might send the entire thing. If, on the other hand, you look at preview and then save as pdf, I think you're okay (I'm too lazy at the moment to actually do this right now -- I just know it's not as simple as setting up the printing area).

Save as pdf, then LOOK AT IT.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The whole point of using the Preview is making sure of what's in the document BEFORE I save it, then send it. Why would I save it, open it to look at it, make changes and save it again? Doesn't matter if I save it as a pdf, or not, other than them changing something and trying to pull a fast one. If the document needs to be view only, yes, I export it as a pdf. My customers are either repeat or referrals, so I rarely get the feeling someone is trying to scam me. Unless they call without referral and it's an online ad, like the guy who's trying to get me to sell a B&O turntable for less than I want to get- he's starting to annoy me.

I once had a woman say i shouldnt charge more than $20 to install her tv since she got it for free.....lmfao

It must be about 15 years ago that I did a small job for a client, I told her it would be $65.
She then asked me if she could pay 30 days.

A guy I worked with loaned a new TV to a client when they insisted that we send their 40" Mits Tube TV in for repair. It had fallen over in an earthquake and the shadow mask had moved. Obviously it could not be repaired. They declined to take it back, too.

Said guy didn't pursue them for the price of the new TV.... finally, three years later, they called to have some work done in a hurry. They told us "we've got an account and we've only had you work on our stuff." Well, we had to tell them that having an open invoice for three years didn't really constitute an account, per se.

They they insisted on paying less than the full amount for the TV. See, they said, it's a used TV....

Two things: when we went out there, they had a DVD player. DVD Players had been introduced during the three years that they "bought all their stuff from us," and they didn't have us install it. And... Beverly Hills.
