Do CIs dislike LG TVs? I never see any CI post that they are installing
LG.

In my opinion LG OLED has one of the best pictures.
WebOS is powerful, and the developers are US based.
WebOS has features I haven’t seen on other televisions, such as on screen notifications.

I can send an image of the front door with text that someone has rung the front door. Can Sony, or Samsung do that?

As a CI I look for.

1. Best in class picture
2 Thin attractive nice to look at.
3. IP control with two way/WOL

Am I missing something?

They did break all HD-BaseT compatibility in a host of their network connected panels (in the UK) last year when they rolled a firmware update that caused clock-stretching issues... so that was pretty cool.
Sony is brilliant for control.
Samsung has their fans.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

They fail. They have low margin. Some of their TVs take forever to power on before they accept a command. The WebOS is terrible especially with the remote. If no control system is in place, the clients usually hate the remote. Their entry level OLEDS have a terrible processor and they handle gradients very poorly. Their tech support is a joke. The got rid of all of their independent service centers. They now send a guy from 100 miles away to service your TV.

We only use LG for their 32" and smaller TV's.

LG OLEDs are the only ones I sell. I prefer Sony hands down.

All Sony except for some small Samsung's. No LG at all.

Every piece of LG equipment I've ever owned has failed and I have replaced more LG TVs than any other brand by far.

I’ve probably sold less than 10 of them in my entire life, the majority of those being OLED’s in the last couple years. I never really had any issues with them, but like others have said the old reputation scares a lot of clients, and it seems almost impossible to make any money on them

This is funny and shows the contrast of experience different dealers get:

Me = Samsung has given me nothing but problems over the decades. LG has never given me 1 single problem.

Other dealers = "Samsung is perfect". "LG has given me nothing but problems".

What can you do :)

I use LG for the small entry level TVs. No margin but show me small entry level TVs that do? I use them because for the money, they have an OK picture on them and I have never had 1 fail. Discreet codes for power and inputs.

For higher performance TVs, I sell Sony.

Sony is #1, LG is #2 and Samsung is 3 on our goto list of TV's. I cant say that we any significant issues with any of them. Samsungs IP control is not very good. Slow and see it miss commands a lot. Never have that issue with Sony or LG.

We've returned the last couple LG we installed. HORRIBLE pic, couldnt get it right. Super high end LG or no lg at all. Turned to junk in last 2-3 years.

Are you using the ISF Expert preset mode? Did the model you use even have it?
There are entry level models that are really entry level - and they suck. Some do not have full discreet codes either.
Have to look closely at which models you use. The cheapest at a given size is usually a bad choice. It is the next model up for $30 more that is the cheap one you want to use.

The LG line can be very confusing. They have so many models and the feature and performance you get can vary greatly. None are what I would consider high performance (unless you get into the higher end OLED). But I don't use them for performance TVs, just budget jobs.

We are using Sony almost exclusively these days. Having said that, the on-screen notifications with WebOS is a pretty slick feature.

We only do Sony TVs. Everything else is a PIA.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

I was recently on a project with some owner supplied LG TV's, I don't recall the models. Nothing about them made me think I would rather deal with those as opposed to Sony, which is our go to. I really did not care for the OEM remote at all, more of a PIA to me than anything. I saw the head to head Sony v. LG OLED at Cedia a couple years back, I thought the Sony processing was much better as were the colors. Not saying the LG was bad, but the Sony won to my eyes.
When good enough is not good enough.
