Sorry for the OT post, just needed to vent. I'm don't know if it hit media outside of this region or not, but we were hit with a fast moving tornado, macroburst, or straight line wind storm (depending on where in town you are) here in Connecticut two days ago. Luckily I was home when it happened as it was not possible to get to our house, and the wife was at work. The dogs would have been alone for a couple days. We got lucky. Have a few trees down in the front, some trees in the woods along the property are down, snapped, or leaning against other trees. Our prized Weber grill came within less than a food of being tossed into the grimey, nasty pool that was just uncovered buy is not running yet. Our only damage was to my van, which happened after the storm. Trying to get out to get more gas for the generator, I had a mishap trying to avoid wires. You had to move off the side of the road a bit on the right side. The ground was wet and the back end slipped out a little, passing the van to the side just enough that the ladder rack got hooked on dead wires. The ladder rack was literally ripped off the roof, 28' ladder thrown on the side of the road, and some minor debts and scratches on the van. We were more fortunate than others though. There are many cases of trees through houses. A historic house in the center of town had one go right through the roof. There are reports of people whose houses are a total loss. One neighborhood in particular in Sandy Hook is reported to be total devastation. I feel for these people and anyone that has or had to go through something like that. Which brings me to the point of the thread title. There are a handful of people on the town Facebook group that are complaining about not having power yet. Crews are working 24/7. Crews from other parts of the state and out of state have come to help, and these people are still bitching. Some say they saw them at a rest area not doing anything. Others complained that people with medical equipment need electricity (generators and emergency crews will help with this). It pisses me off that these people can be so dense and embarrasses me to be in the same community with them. With all the heartache and tragedy that this town has endoured, you would think the people that LIVE here would be sympathetic to others misfortune. It's a shame that even in times like this, you are reminded at just how selfish people can be.

Some people work hard and are productive in some way throughout life and are grateful for what they have. Others are born rich and spoiled and have nothing else to do but complain.

True, but some are just born spoiled or are selfish. Not everyone in CT is rich ;-)

I voiced my opinion, as did others. Luckily we are safe, as are most people. There were two confirmed deaths in neighboring towns, including a woman killed by a tree falling in her car and her 3 year old witnessing it. Thankfully the kid was ok, but very sad.

A psychologist once told me that everybody feels their own pain at 100%.

What he didn't think to say is that this is true of people who sit around and bitch, but it's also true of people who are grateful for what they DO have. You have every right to complain about those folks, but it will do little good. People who don't wake up every morning being glad they woke up won't be grateful about much else.

It pisses me off that these people can be so dense and embarrasses me to be in the same community with them. No, when a jerk is hit in the face, he just thinks bitterly that it's another of life's blows. He doesn't already have a backlog of grateful moments to temper his experience of that moment.

One thing you might keep in mind is that people who are grateful tend to be more happy all around than people who are resentful. Despite your anger and embarrassment, you're better off than those jerks.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

People still throw garbage into the ocean and kill each other for resources. It doesn't shock me that someone is whining about electricity while 2 doors down the house has been destroyed and a block over a woman is killed in front of her children.

My guess is that the same "wheres our electricity" whiners also thought "I don't want my tax dollars going to Puerto Rico".

This was a 5 minute storm with the height of it reaching about 110mph. I cannot imagine what they went through with the hurricanes in Puerto Rico, or Houston, Florida or any large storm like that.

Ya, I gotta say I don't want my tax dollars going to Puerto Rico, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mexico or even Canada. How about we help our own people first. Feel free to go to Puerto Rico to help them out as I'm sure they give 2 fuks about you FatSlyce.

Golden stop complaining about other peoples complaints, you don't know their situation. Maybe they need electricity cause their Medication needs to be refrigerated, or their electrical appliances that keep them alive. Babies that need milk or formula heated, not everybody has a gas stove.

I'll be watching for the Youtube video since you care so much about this.

Thanks for showing what a dick you are. I applaud you for being such an amazing and compassionate human being. I know that every single person in town is in the same situation with lack of power. If you rely on electricity for medical reasons, get a generator. If you don't have one, call police and they will get you out of there and to the help you need. The people working to fix the power infrastructure are working ROUND THE CLOCK yet it's ok to bitch about them "sitting around" to drink a cup of coffee? Okkkkkk!!!!!

OK, but the country is also defaulting on loans and the power utility is broke.

It's not a matter of the US not sending money, it has to do with the materials needed and their quantities.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

It can definitely be taxing on you dealing with the people up here. Overall, most people in town here have been exceptional under these circumstances. It's the select few that so not seem to get it. I just hate seeing people get on hard working folks working round the clock for them, and some of which came from out of state to help.
