Watch out if you are putting a chime on the CC with the new units.

Apparently, Doorbird reboots these things every night and when they come back online they automatically close the contact. Which is just f$#cking great when that triggers the whole house audio system to play the chime.

Doorbirds fix is to send a new button kit that bypasses the circuit board. Which of coarse is back ordered and we will be into week 6 by the time we get our hands on it.

They obviously knew about the problem as they had already developed the fix. We have 2 warranty trips already on this POS and now we get to install this new button on our dime for them. Which we are doing at least 6 weeks after finding the problem, which means either disconnecting the Doorbell for 6+ weeks, or letting it wake them up every Fing night.

I have been very patient with this company. We have had multiple DOA units, multiple garbled voice units, and now this crap.

Oh and their constant firmware changes can mess with the 3rd party integration, which is the only frigging thing I use these for.

I thought the Germans where supposed to have their shit together.

Don't seem to have the same experiences here with my Doorbird installs.

I also don't connect chimes to these either but use the 3rd party integration for triggering WHA systems to play audio files for the doorbell. So don't have that problem yet.

I do have an install coming up where we do need to tie into the existing doorbell chime, so thanks for the heads up on that!! Is the part available in the online store or????

Is this only on the new units? I have been using the dry contact (blue wires on the old units) to tie into C4 and Elan systems for triggering a chime through the DA. This has been more reliable than using the API/driver to trigger. I have not had any calls about this. We have the first of the new units going into an Elan system in a few months. I will test it out of course before deploying it.

We had this problem as well. Doorbird is sending us parts that are supposed to take care of it. Have not received the parts yet, coming from Germany late April or Early May.

We are having similar problems. Last 4 we have done we used Ring and they actually worked. Next time I need a nice unit with CC, we will give the Lilin a shot.

I just installed one of the new D2101 units in January and I am using the contact closure output to trigger an AMX system to run a chime through the house audio system. This is not happening to me.

What specific models/parts are you using?

I certainly haven't seen this nor heard of Doorbirds rebooting by themselves at night though.

Are you sure you guys didn't program an outlet or poe switch to do that instead?

How are the units being powered anyways??

Also if his is an issue, get the time that it reboots which should be the same every night if it is scheduled and disable the chime output for that time period.

Was there a model number change when this started? Did it start with some particular serial number? Is there some dependable something about the unit that you can see to know whether your unit is affected?

Sooner or later this will be a help to someone. I mean, you say the new ones, but the moment you label something new, it's no longer new.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Confirmed by tech support. They reboot nightly. No way to set a static ip. Mac addresses res only.

My biggest gripe though is that the ir light is only activated in motion or button press. I find that ridiculous especially for hardwired device. Makes it useless as a camera in an ip system.

Just curious: why are you using the dry contact to trigger? Why not use the driver and announcements programming button press?

My problem with the Lilin door unit is that it is huge and looks like an industrial/ commercial intercom, from the 80's. I saw it at Cedia last year. I use URC Total Control so limited to Door Bird or Lilin. I'm hoping another option comes along, soon!!

Speaking of Doorbird, I'm looking to install just a standalone unit(with door strike release) and was wondering if they have a wireless indoor chime a la Ring? There's no existing doorbell to hardwire to conventional chime.

Yes they have an IP chime works great. It’s way more expensive than a $30 chime though.

Side issue: where can you hear a $30 chime these days? Home Depot and Lowe's used to have displays where you could push the button and hear the chime. I last looked for a doorbell about a year ago and I had to buy it to hear it!
