This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers. #makesonosgreatagain |

That's the first thing that popped into my mind when it was released! Not so fast, google and Cortana are coming to it in the coming months. Unless amazon purchases Sonos first..... At some point we are going to be nothing more then IOT installers. The line is rapidly blurring and it’s clear the consumer devices can and will outperform anything our industry makes up. :(

No IOT there at all. Just about any IT Dept. that's worth a grain of salt, doesn't allow these devices on their networks.

Doorbird costs almost 3x as much as ring. Has integration that works sometimes. Sometimes it stays on the network, sometimes it does not. Yet Ring works everytime...and costs 1/3 the price of a piece of shit that has been touted as the best integratabtle doorbell.

I remember the folks at ring pitched their idea on Shark Tank. And no one wanted to help. Then Richard Branson swooped in... now he's laughing all the way to the bank. [Link: cnbc.com]KOT

For people complaining about a $150 doorbell not being 100%, im reminded of Louis CK talking about the kid on the airplane complaining because the internet doesnt work. Youre on a freaking airplane, be impressed it has internet at all.
Same goes for Ring (and similar products). SOmeone pushes an button at your home, and it finds your phone anywhere in the world, and sends you an instant page. It doesnt call, it doesnt dial your number and wait for the call to connect through the phone system, it pages and with one touch will connect the call with sound and video. Freaking video! Its like a Dick Tracy comic book.
I wish phone companies would bring back rotary phones so kids could see how good they have it.

How about bringing dial up connection time back.
But keep the broadband speed for a little while. Then after a few months of them complaining about having to wait for the connection to establish... slow the speed to dial up speed. Lol
