I was a diehard Star Trek fan. I saw the fan film Prelude to Axanar. It promised a unique new story line. Paramount crushed it. Now I don't care if I never see another Ater Trek rehash again ( they're all rehashes now).

To boldly go where no one has gone before - except for the Star Treks studios whose mantra is To repeat the formula and plot lines over and over and over and over ....

I always said NG was a rehash of TOS.

I saw commercial during football game today that said the show premiers on such and such day/time.
I set my DTV to record it.
Will they only air 1st episode?

Actually, only half of the first episode

The first episode (Part 1 of the two-hour premiere) will be available on CBS All Access at 8:30PM ET / 5:30PM PT.
The second episode (Part 2) will be available exclusively on CBS All Access at 9:30PM ET / 6:30PM PT.
Subsequent episodes will be available at 8:30PM ET / 5:30PM PT starting Sunday, October 1st.

This streaming service from CBS costs $5.99 per month to subscribe ($9.99 without commercials). CBS All Access includes access to more than 9,000 episodes on demand – spanning current primetime, daytime and late night CBS series, as well as past seasons of select series and classic TV shows, including every episode of every Star Trek TV series.

First, don't forget that we enjoyed a thing we called surround sound back when the audio track had only two channels. It was called ProLogic. You might say it's not surround, but millions of people bought it and enjoyed sound from five speakers. Channel separation was crap compared to discrete surround, but it still could be pretty good. (In fact, a lot of Pink Floyd albums were fantastic in ProLogic!)

Second, what's the problem with an alternate time line? Is it that you're going to have problems figuring out which one is real? What if the new time line is one they originally came up with, but it was too daring for its time? That would make it the original, wouldn't it?

Third, I've been saying for ten years that every company wants you to just pay them ten bucks a month, forever. It's a GREAT business plan because it doesn't seem like too much for any individual account, and those bucks add up faster than a smaller number of pricier accounts!

Blue Diamond Almonds defined this trend with their "One can a week, that's all we ask" ad campaigns.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Still too early to tell after only 1 episode. My wife did watch it with me though and she has never had any interest in anything Star Trek, or Star Wars for that matter. This show can boldly go where no Trek show has gone before.

Meh. After two episodes it looms mildly funny and quirky, but I expect the laughability to drop off.

Seth can obviously keep things going with a cartoon, but since cartoons aren't people, we don't expect and can't see facial expressions (for instance) that real people show. We watchers can actually be more involved with a cartoon because our imaginations fill in what is not shown. But real actors have to portray the details. I just don't think Seth's brand of humor can get across very well for long enough for the show to last very long.

We'll see.

If you'd stop breaking down everything that is said and trying to analyze what was really meant in each line and just watch the show, your probably enjoy it more.
