I would run a line from the dmarc to a single Eero in RV2. This will be the router. Then drop an Eero in each RV unit.

Fins, this is exactly what I was thinking.

Unifi AC mesh, cheap, outddor AP's , remote management and more ... [Link: unifi-mesh.ubnt.com]

Oh this looks nice.

Have you used it? Is it as easy as it looks (well, as easy Ubiquiti can be with it's limited support).

You just select router from drop down menu.

One problem with putting the router in one of the RV's is that the system needs to be accessible to all family members even if they aren't all there.

If the bullet can be a router, that looks like it would be the easiest, most economical solution. What else am I going to find for under $300

good god...

locked nema box for modem and router. at demarc.
1 access point(poe) hooked to router with 12 db gain antenna on shelter use direct burial or conduit to get cat 6 to shelter

it will have plenty of bandwidth, range and will work just fine. its a family spot... so it can be shared.

i bet a simple nema box at demarcation point with an access point with external antenna at demarcation would work just fine.

Nema box will absolutely work. That's what I've always referred to as a project box. And at the shelter there is already a flag pole so, while mounting an antenna will take some effort, its minimal. But being that I don't need the range to reach past the shelter in the middle of the lot. I think putting the antenna around the D-Marc will cover fine.

The biggest problem is still explaining why the $79 router in staples won't work.

Tell him the staples crap is like a honda crv on the Charlotte motor speedway.
It has no business being there!

Tell him to buy his router at staples and only call you if it does not do the job well enough.

So last year I found I had one of the unify outdoor WAPs and used it and a cheap router. It worked good enough last summer, but somehow the port on the wap corroded and it went bad. Is eeros still a good option?

Eeros really is a great option but...and maybe I'm doing this wrong...but...

One good access point could cover all that no prob.

I have been down that road, and have drawn some conclusions. There has been some discussion here and elsewhere about this very topic.

As Casey raised the question, the powerful access point is able to reach out further to distant devices, even use beam forming for much better transmission and reception.

Unfortunately, handheld devices will rarely have the kind of power to transmit back to a single access point trying to cover a huge property, to make the initial connection. If they could get connected, it would be fine, but without enough power to trigger a response from the access point, it is futile.

I was using Ubiquiti access points, and would place more than one on the property as needed. There was so much talk about Ruckus being the bomb, and guys said they just used one, even up to a 6000 square-foot property. I tried that in a couple of situations, and I am done with that experiment. It was unsuccessful, because an iPhone could not reach far enough to make that initial connection.

Alternatively, a decent access point with a high gain antenna that can mount externally, has more potential in my estimation. The antenna is the key.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The problem I’ve found is these metal boxes (campers) seem to really kill reception on the inside. Last year with the outdoor ubiquiti antenna I had decent coverage including to the picnic shelter. But campers 1 and 4 had trouble getting reception (especially 4). when it was found that the ubiquiti had died, I was on my little personal retreat for the month of June, so my step-sister’s daughter replaced the router with a Linksys and put it inside the weatherproof box. She is majoring in IT, but has no real world experience.

Now I’m trying to decide if using the ubiquiti bullet and high gain antenna is the way to go or a mesh network like Eero. I’m leaning toward the mesh, but have no experience with mesh systems.
