How much did the 4x4 run you? Any issues? Quigley charges $12,495 I believe. Its been pretty awesome thus far, lots of other contractors are always asking us about it. Ford is supposed to be coming out with an all wheel drive model late next year.

Yes, you can order the van from a ford, gm or nissan dealer with the 4x4 kit or you can purchase a van have them outfit it with 4x4. Yes it is expensive, but its been great for us as we work in a lot of hilly rural areas. Also nice on the occasion muddy jobsite. Our promaster would get stuck all the time.

For those of you who went with a high roof van like the medium roof transit, what type of drop down ladder rack did you get, and did you like it?

The 2019 Sprinter just came out. It's wicked. So I just started my van search and came back to this thread for ideas... it sucks that everyone who posted pics used photo bucket and cant see the photos anymore for idea.
I looked at some of the older body style vans. Ford E series for example. No way in hell could I do that. They are tiny inside and the ceiling is way too low. Holy crouched over. Idk how anyone worked out of those for decades.
Thing is I don't want to go drop 20,30,40 grand on a new Tall Roof model. It's just not in the budget at the moment.
So I guess that leaves me with a tow behind trailer. Thinking maybe an 8.5x14. Maybe not quite as convenient as a van but I guess I don't see too much downside other then having to hitch it up. Perhaps once in awhile a job site might not have the room for truck and trailer.
I have a 4x4 pickup I'd tow it with so the worries about a 2wd van in the winter are eliminated as well. I see tons of shelving options exist for cargo trailers as well.
How many of you find the trailers useful in your fleet?

I'd rather use a E150 than a trailer on a day to day basis any day of the week. I could not even use the trailer on the parkway here so my drive time would double just to get to the highway.

im with Gold. NO WAY would i EVER go the trailer route again. Been there, hated it. MAJOR PITA to get around. Id rather work out of suitcases in a Yugo.
For sure the Ford ecoline is better than a trailer.
I have one, with shelving, sitting on my property for a year lol. Still looks great. Want it? Ford Ecloline 250

I liked my E150 I had. Since I didn't really overload it, I didn't have any issues with the lighter weight. It was not as tall so much easier to get in and out of. I'd prefer to stand up in a van, but the Ford was still great and organized well.

How many of you find the trailers useful in your fleet? Most of my work is within a 20 mile radius. I have a F150 Crew Cab 4x4 and a 12' trailer. I really like having the space, I built my own shelving, but finding places to park and turn around at job sites suck. Towing the trailer kills my gas mileage as well.

I used to do the truck and trailer thing, sold the truck and got a van with spartan box on it. Never again will I deal with a trailer unless its needed for a oversized tv or an equipment delivery!

Just added third new Nissan NV2500HD. 5 year, 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Selling off the GMC first (major expenses all the time, computer, etc....), than Rusty, the old Ford 150. Trying to get to all the same kind of vans.
