I don't see a single box of wire in that van!

One the floor under the shelf behind the driver seat. I keep one of each type we most commonly use: couple colors of cat, speaker, 22/2, coax. When we do a prewire, we pull more boxes from the warehouse. Typically just throw those in the back of one of the pick ups.

My pics? No. its all Sortimo. German. I looked at Ranger. Given that name is in my company name lol. I liked Sortimo better. More options. The NUMBER one thing for me is being able to slide out boxes and open the lids without removing the boxes.

F&*k dude, why'd you have to turn me on to another expensive German company.

The only part I see that is potentially annoying is getting into the pull out drawers when there is a bunch of gear on the van. But I guess that helps motivate you to keep the aisle open and clean...

LOL, indeed. But not really different than any other set up I guess. If you have Adrian or just shelfs, you would still have to move crap out of the way. So, moral of the story is "keep the isles clean" and stow you tray tables and put your sit in the upright position.

As you dig deeper into Sortimos offerings, its gets addicting. But some stuff is just STUPID expensive. Thanks for no thanks for $326 for a hanger on the back door to hold a ladder. Can make my own for about 12 bucks lol.

Actually, its the flip up doors over each tire well that get in the way the most as nothing can be infront of them to open it right. But ahts where i put the odd shape stuff and rarely used. But, i keep it pretty damn clean away.

Tucker, how much do you figure it would cost me to outfit identical setup in shelving and bins?

How many hours do you figure you spent cutting out foam for tools and parts, including re-work?

You better figure at least 8k but i went all out. All compartmental boxes and tool boxes have glide out sliders, all end rails full of clip on and carry boxes, extra straps (they have an smart railing system whereby special straps can clip on to all the rails, VERY handy) and various parts. Its over 12k now. You could do more shelf space and more bins instead of sliders and boxes and keep the costs down. OR, you could design the structure the way you want it without the accessories and add them later OR use Bosch boxes instead of Sortimo and save a few bucks. To do it right, IMO, your looking at at least 6k for the infrastructure, or a tad more, and then add accessories as you want.

Didnt really time the foam cut outs but it DOES indeed take some time. I did a couple over as well as time went on and changes made with adding more things, i tossed some foam out and redid them. No matter how well thought out i THOUGHT i had it, i ultimately wanted changes.

I'd like to have a similar set up in the my shop, but its too costly. Might start with shelving and later add sliders and bosch boxes. The sliders it what really makes the whole damn thing SO convenient. THey are actually called Multislides and run $63 EACH just for the slide. But worth it. Thats what i went back and added four more of.

Custom foam WILL take some time! For sure. But again, you just investing that time in future convenience. Added bonus is you know INSTANTLY if you have any tools missing and thats proved extremely valuable.

You get a to a point where you value your time and want life to be more about conveniences. After all, isnt that what we do? Create customer conveniences. Bottom line, its only money, go make more. :)

Seems like it at first but the value is in convenience and organization. It really does shave time EVERY day off daily routines. Yes, not cheap but I see the value in it. I have adrian steel in the other van and after being spoiled, i hate it and its for sale! lol. It added $100 to insurance as well.

Ya that would be wicked. I did just spring for this [Link: homedepot.com] with a 15% off coupon. Can't beat it even without the discount. This will help me get a little more organized at home.

Is that what you paid in the link, minus the 5%?

Typo that I just fixed. 15% off not 5.

But yes 15% off the 999 so $850.

Then I sold my 15 year old craftsman boxes that were el cheapos with the awful drawer slides for $300.

So $550 all said and done. Ironically that's what the box weighs. 550lbs lol.
