Using a USB cable that is. Didn't realize this until trying to do phone support for a customer. Customer owns RX-A750 which does support iPod via USB, my RX-A760 does not. Thought I would pass this on, in case some one else encounters this issue.
I should have mentioned that I got the customer's RX-A750 working after reading the owners manual to him over the phone. The point I was making was, that I could not duplicate the issue with my RX-A760, which is when I discovered Yamaha no longer supports USB cabled iPhone. Thanks for all the replies.

This added detail makes your thread title incorrect. It's not true that iPhone is not supported with current Yamaha AVR.

That would be with a USB cable- I set up the same model a few weeks ago and I use an iPhone 6; the homeowner, his ex-wife & their kids have iPhones, too. I bought a Yamaha MusicCast WXC-50 and control it with my phone after that project and it works great- I recommend looking into it as a good solution to a lot of problems we deal with. More inputs and outputs than Sonos, too.
