And the polar opposite is URC!

I still remember the trainer throwing their remote across the room to prove how tough they were.

He picked it up and it still worked!

The same for C4! I still have and use my original sr250 from 2009
I've never seen an rti remote last beyond 18 months.

I have 2 customers that still have T2+. They have been working for 13 years for them now. These were takeover jobs and I've just had to get new batteries for them a few times over the years.
No experience with any of the newer RTI stuff, I generally sell URC.

I think my avatar on IP is still an MX-850 that got chewed up by the customer's dog.... and it still worked.

I also have yet to see a C4 remote fail. We had one B-stock one that kept giving us trouble, but I'm pretty sure that was the only one, and we've sold WAY more of those than we have any other handheld remote.

That is the exception not the rule. I would like to know how often the remotes get used and what kind of condition they are in.

One has been used every single day for that 13 years.
The other is a customer that has a seasonal home down here. It is used everyday for 3-4 months a year.
Both are much older couples and are familiar with the remotes, so they don't want to change.

RTI has always had its problem remotes. And they have always had higher fail rates than others, on even their good remotes. But looking at this thread and now the other thread, it seems RTI is going thru a bad time again with all their remotes? Sure seems that way from all the posts.

Their handhelds have always been gorgeous in my opinion. I had a tremendous failure rate on T2c and T3. Kept exchanging and refurbishing - not a great experience.

I was glad when they came out with the T2i and T2x series. Time to move forward! The first one I set up went into lockup while I was there, with an 80 year old client. No power switch inside the battery compartment! Had to learn a new way to reboot. Have another client who had to reboot a couple days after I installed. I am just afraid of them, much as I want to like them.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
