Hey guys, someone forwarded this to me and thought I'd share it here to get everyone's thoughts and opinions on it. It looks pretty cool if it works as advertised, definitely cooler than harmony at around the same price point, they are anticipating a June 2017 launch. Please check it out and post your thoughts: https://remote.sevenhugs.com/

In order to operate the device, you have to point the remote at it. So non of that changing the channel while the remote is on the desk or whatever.
And in order for the remote to know what you are pointing at. You have to install transmitters of sorts in the home. Basically GPS for the remote on a house scale. Then program the remote to the device as you point to it.

"Meet the first remote for everything"
I love it! Its like a remote that works universally across all devices. Maybe we can call it something like "Universal Remote" and wow...what if we make it so that you can program it with PC software. The possibilities are endless. Why hasn't someone thought of this before now?
Seriously though...what happens when you point it at your TV...that has an AVR, an Xbox, a Blu-ray player, an apple tv & roku and cable box stacked under it? This will be a neat toy but it in no way shape or form will replace a Harmony remote.

Because those 7 devices that you just named is hugged by this remote when pointed to it. KOT

They call it SevenHugs because that is foreplay. If you sell and install, its time to bend over and get f'd.

Their first product is a sleep monitor for kids -- and they'd get seven hugs at night. Sevenhugs. We talked to Simon back on E115 in detail [Link: hometech.fm] and again at CEDIA this year. Personally I just wish we could see this thing ship before we all start making jokes about it -- same thing with the NEEO remote. Could be a cool device but with all things Kickstarter you never know.

Multi-room? (Turn off the garage light) Where would one point? What about a table lamp near the kitchen that will probably be along the same target line as the kitchen lights?

The name is cute but it reminds me of a Hong Kong company that did not have a clue about English language sarcasm. They made small electronic accessories and the name was Good Luck Engineering.

Why do so many feel the need to reinvent the wheel?
That video gave me vertigo. Should call it seven barfs.
Someone needs to make it shaped like a penis. Then at least one particular industry would like it.
