I have having a weird issue that the 1080, after a user enters a sub-menu, automatically reverts back to the main screen after about 30 seconds and doesn't stay in the sub-menu.

The macro as set is supposed to leave the screen in the sub-menu unless obviously the user presses the "main" button.

I am more used to programing in URC CC, not TC so I am sure its a basic item

This has been discussed 1850485043254 times in the URC forum. This is also heavily mentioned in every TC training course, which is required to get the line. So I will answer this but would like to know why so many people get the line without training?

You have removed the device power command for at least one of the devices in your macro. The device power commands MUST be present or the remote will jump back to the main menu. TC tracks via these commands.

In his defense it's easy to forget this once or twice even after training, at least I did.

It's worth mentioning that also for proper page jumping and tracking to happen, not only must you have connected data on the ON and OFF side of each device power macro, you must have some kind of WORKING IR/232/IP command being sent.

If, for example, you have a cable box with no discrete power, you are not using sensors and if/else statements and you're just wanting it left on all the time, you MUST still have some kind of real commands there, even if they're from some imaginary device from the database you're not really using. In other words, drag a command over into your driver's Power on/Power off lines from a random device in the database the cable box won't respond to.

The power on and off macros don't need to have commands in them. The macros do have to remain in the activity macro for them to track though.

I'm not doubting you maybe you can help me better understand. What you're saying is contrary to what I was told by support and contrary to what seemed to fix my problem. I had the device power macros included in the activity macros but rooms list did not show cable boxes were being used. Rep had me go back into the device commands and drag an irrelevant random IR code onto on and off. Tracking and page jumps magically started working right.

Not sure if this matters but it was a matrix switch situation with 4 CBl boxes going into it.

This is true. You do NOT need to have anything in the device power macros. They can be empty.

^^^ This contradicts 100 percent what we were taught in training as well as what I have observed in the field.

Any training I have been in, as well as any discussions in the URC forum have all stated that you do not need a physical code in the device power macros, and experience in the field have all confirmed this.

I leave the cable box on in ALL of my systems. 100% of them DO NOT have ir codes in the cable box device power macros

Do you not at least have Connected Data?

I program a power tracking macro and add a fix button in the device. Cablevision constantly sends updates that shut the boxes off. Between that and power failures, it seems to be the better option for my clients. I sometimes use sensors, but the only one that works with any sort of reliability with the Samsung boxes Cablevision uses are the light sensors.

The older Scientific Atlanta boxes still use the Power and Numeric option so I program those with the 0 -> exit command in the device power on macro and ->power in the device power off macro

There is NOTHING in the device power macro.

i believe at one point, the software did require there to be a command in the macro window for it to track properly.  as far as i know, a software update fixed this.

i wonder if the driver originally had something in the power on and power off macros, and that command was deleted, that would be the issue.  maybe since it was created with a code, it needs to see a code, or it doesn't know what to do.

i would try editing the driver and delete anything in the power command slots.  then load the driver and test again.  or create a new driver from scratch.

i can tell you with 100% certainty, that my appletv driver has nothing in the power on macro, yet it tracks properly every time.
