Client is just moving into his house. Appointment with Comcast revealed that there had never been a line run from the street to the house, so their construction crew has to come in first, then normal installation. He may be without TV and Wi-Fi for a week or two.
Is there some kind of temporary hotspot that could be set up for a couple weeks? He has Verizon as his cell carrier. Have any of you done this and gotten by for a couple weeks with it? Thank you.

I use my phone as a hotspot all the time, works great. If he wants to stream HD movies and stuff over data, he better have a lot of data with Verizon.

Is there a separate hotspot type device that you might use if he wanted to keep his phone as a phone? Is it possible to set up a small, although slower network with the hotspot as the source of data?

You can get a pay as you go Straight Talk Hotspot. Data is really expensive though.

A couple of weeks?
Let me ask you this. Will the service be above ground or buried? If above, it should be able be done by a normal house call tech. If below, then it's going to take a couple of months. And even then, if the client is in an area where the ground may pen frozen, then don't expect it to be done until spring time.
When I worked for Comcast as an install tech. I had ran a cable from the pole to the house, obviously above, because the house never had cable. I don't even recall if my logbook indicated if it was a new service or not as far as a new run.

Service is in ground under a steel plate in the street. Sunny California so no frost.
Comcast says a waterproof sleeve has to be put inside the conduit, then cable run.
He was going to help me run it so to speak but estimated the run to be longer than either of our fish tapes.

Why can't a temp cable be run above ground?
Comcast did it for a neighbor couple months ago, ran down the street across my driveway for a couple weeks, until it was buried.

Even thought I didn't mention it in my first post. It kind of make sense in his reponce. As there is a conduit there already, they just have to pull a cable. I guess their thinking is why run a temp above to have an underground installed in a week or two. How long was that temp installed for your neighbor? KOT

See if one of the neighbors has an unprotected AP. Use that for a couple of weeks.
