How much did that cost when new?

Nice I don't know anything about Phast but it must be Cree de la crem if you're posting it . Not sure how it happened but about a month ago I won a mint condition ADA Suite 16 delivered from the UK for $120. Bid $40 and then noticed the price was in pounds. Won it and was worried until sure enough it arrived In 3 weeks and worked great.

Happy holidays and cheers everybody.

I don't remember exact pricing but pretty sure this was around $6000 new. I had several of these and could not get anything for them other than a few dollars at the scrap yard.

I got 5 JAP 2G transmitters of CL a couple months ago for $300 shipped. Was super excited. Using 4 of the 5 in my system now.

Phast was one of the worst disaster's in the history of our industry.

Some poor smuck will probably end up paying for those, instead of being paid to haul them to a recycling center...

What, did it just break a lot? If not, how really can you f up an audio switcher? Too proprietary AND doesn't work?

And I was stupid enough to takeover an existing system after Phast went under and the original Integrator left the state/country!

I managed to nurse it along with used parts and help from others on this sight for 3 years until FINALLY they took a BIG lightning strike(top of a hill in rural Kansas).

Their insurance company paid for the replacement by us.

99 lighting loads of Lutron RA2,16 zones of Elan G A/V,a truck load of TV's,4 WAPS,a router,a couple weeks of labor, and they were up and running!

It paid off in the long run but I vowed to never do that again!!
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

I forgot to mention the best part!

After we finished she asked if I wanted any of the components (the amps and switchers still worked!).

I paused and said "well, not really."

Then she asked if I would haul them off for $300!!

How could I refuse!

Our problems with Phast:

#1. 50% of all DMS keypads broke during installation...or shortly after if a painter or anyone else tried to remove one for any reason. Poor design. The LCD display was part of the front cover plate. There was a fragile connector that would snap off...or the LCD would crack just trying to remove the front cover so that you could get to the screw holes to install it. Every other keypad or touchpanel on the planet has a simple cover plate that goes over the device.

#2. Software was buggy as hell. Support was terrible. The two mixed together was a recipe for disaster. Every single time we called tech support we got two sentences from them. "We have never heard of that problem before" and "upgrade the software to the latest build".

#3. Crappy hardware. We used card frames. CF10's. For no reason at all the MCU card would just stop working. Moving the card from one slot to another in software would get it working again. It was like a soft reseat of the card.

The HUB was finicky as hell. We once killed every port on the hub because another tech and I were toning/testing Cat5's with a lan tester as we connected each keypad. The other tech wasn't moving the lan tester probe from the Cat5 fast enough. I would remove the test end and plug up the Cat5 and the dumb/non powered probe somehow killed the port. In 20 years i have never experienced another device (with an RJ45 jack on it) fail just because a probe was connected to it.

#4. Phast lighting was the final nail in the coffin.

Whats crazy is that after we almost went out of business getting those systems working...they lasted 10 years or more.
