Anyone know of a camera with software that can do this? Jusy need it to email a snapshot once a day.

All the cameras I've found only do motion activate snapshots via email, which would potentially overload their email as there is a lot of activity in the cameras view.

Old non tech customer is requesting this...

I guess if there was a software that allowed me to limit the number of motion activtaed emails per day, that would also work.

With Blue Iris and using it's built in 'Schedule' (and email) I 'think' you might be able to do this but I never have used it in that way so an email to them might be the way to go. I think you might have to use the Profiles feature also to get what you want.

Does it need to do it automatically?
If not, pretty much every dvr you can log in and take a snapshot which will save locally.

What about using an IP camera that has a security input?  This is usually used to trigger an event from a motion sensor, but you could use some type of timer circuit or timer clock that closes a relay once a day and triggers the camera event to email a snapshot.

Is a specific time of day critical, or just once every 24hrs?

Certain models of the Planet cameras we offer have this ability. You can set the schedule trigger an actual event at a certain time.

Are you wanting to trigger the camera to send pictures at a certain time and then do nothing until the same time the next day?

Yes

It's for a builder with a client who's like 70 years old. The client wants a picture in his email once a day so he can see progress.

The camera would be mounted to a trailer with wifi.

I explained how easy it would be to set up a Nest camera in order to peak in live, but for some reason they are convinced it's too complex.

I explained to the builder it might be easier just to take a snapshot with an iphone every day, or do a snapshot with the camera system and email it.

He said he would think about it.

I like the idea of a timed trigger on a camera's security input. Didnt think about that one!

To expand on my suggestion of the security input, instead of using a timer you could just wire to a push button switch in the construction trailer.

This would be really simple, but would require that someone remember to push the button.  One benefit is that the contractor could press the button at opportune times when something interesting is happening like delivery of materials, concrete pours, etc.

Relying on a timer to take a snapshot at a specific time each day might result in a lot of boring pictures where it looks like not much is taking place.

An alternative would be a combination with timer to get the requested "daily" photo along with the hardwired push button allowing the contractor to snap pictures manually to capture important milestones.

Looks like you can find inexpensive electronic timers with relay outputs for $10-$20.

Having said that... is BlackWire can set you up with a camera that has a built in timer function that's probably the best solution.
