To expand on my suggestion of the security input, instead of using a timer you could just wire to a push button switch in the construction trailer.

This would be really simple, but would require that someone remember to push the button.  One benefit is that the contractor could press the button at opportune times when something interesting is happening like delivery of materials, concrete pours, etc.

Relying on a timer to take a snapshot at a specific time each day might result in a lot of boring pictures where it looks like not much is taking place.

An alternative would be a combination with timer to get the requested "daily" photo along with the hardwired push button allowing the contractor to snap pictures manually to capture important milestones.

Looks like you can find inexpensive electronic timers with relay outputs for $10-$20.

Having said that... is BlackWire can set you up with a camera that has a built in timer function that's probably the best solution.
