Funniest part is that their big claim to removing the headphone jack was to save space but since the phone is still functioning, it makes me think there was still space for the jack.

Looking at teardown photos, the "Taptec Engine" probably isn't going to be working anymore. But the primary reason seems to be for waterproofing.

Samsung devices are waterproof and have headphone jacks, so doubt that is it. I still firmly believe it is simply to sell more hardware. They have to put that Beats Audio purchase to good use.

My S5 is water resistant and has the jack. I don't use headphones so could care less. I also agree it is to simply sell more accessories. Really not much else they can come up with any time soon and keep profits on pace. Maybe the iBall, replacing your own. Seriously, developing another hit product is going to be hard to do. Not an apple hater completely, we have 5 devices at home.

Before the iPhone you bought and carried around your blackberry, your digital camera, your digital voice recorder, your GPS, your iPod and so on and so forth.

Thanks to apple (and the companies that copied them) you have 1 device to buy and carry around. Even with the headphone dongle you are still right side up on the deal and you just need a little space in your pocket vs a rolling suit case for your other gadgets.

it still baffles me that to this day people keep losing their shit over an archaic device like a 3.5mm Jack...I walked into best buy the other day and saw options for headphones for 3.5mm or Lightning... Same Price... Headphones absolutely suck anyway...And they come with the phone..so again, not sure why people are whining about it anyway, it comes with a freaking adapter!!!

Whats funny, is that some of the people who are losing their shhhhh. Are those who call them selves "audiophiles". Because they have headphones that probably cost as much if not more than their iPhone. YET!!! They plug those super expensive headphones into a phone, whether it being an iPhone or a Samsung.

And we damn well know, that the amp in the phones are No wheres near the ability of an amp that plugs into a wall.

Oh, and what about when telephones went from rotary to touch tone. Where were the complaints about that? Oh wait, no internet back then.

Fvck using an adaptor. That's just ridiculous. Fvck going and buying more headphones because Apple wants you to buy new headphones. Fvck using stupid ear buds. Hate them. There is zero forward thinking behind this move. It's purely to sell more boxes. Theres nothing archaic behind a 3.5mm jack. It works, everytime. HDMI we forward thinking too. FVCK HDMI (that's right Mac, FVCK it)

You guys make the idea of selling things sound like it's bad or something.

You're right. From now on, I will tell every client that no systems will work any longer unless we install a generator, then I'll disconnect their feed from the street.

Are you going to sell them the generator?
