Sounds like you are being force fed the Crestron kool-aid. and if all of your clients are exactly like the one you refer to, that's what you need, and should sell.

Not being force fed...just not afraid to sell people what they want.

All three of my billionaire clients have asked me to install Savant and dump Crestron. The standard run of the mill millionaires have all complained or switched.

LOL you talk about Kool-aid but you are selling a product that is only known for its marketing department.

The smaller systems are happy with simple control from and RTI, URC or Savant.

Or Harmony...why are you selling that overprices RTI/URC/SAVANT when anyone can next day air a harmony for $400 that they can program themselves?

They won't be done by end users setting up their own stuff. As mac said, Apple isn't going to make something that can't be plug and play

And when they do make it plug and play it will look like this ridiculous nonsense.

Love that exposed cable.

Just an example of how consumer product companies will never steal your customers. They dont know how to and they dont want to learn how to because if it takes more than 5 seconds of their time they kill the product and move to the next box mover product.

Big box stores can never displace the local mom and pop hardware stores because of mom & pop's expertise, quality products, and community involvement,  right?

It's all going wireless too...i heard that 20 years ago and it still hasn't happened.

I think some of the "AV Guys" on this board need a dose of self esteem.

There is an Ace Hardware in every town in the Chicagoland area even though they are priced higher than Home Depot/Lowes/Menards. There are 116 ace hardwares within 50 miles of my house and only 29 Home Depots.

I only have one of each within some 50 miles of me.

Every ace and true value I've been in around me is so poorly run I refuse to go in there. Miserable employees who don't know where anything is and packages half opened and a store that would be a rats paradise. The only store that I've been in that was nice was a true value that was down the shore.

I hate homedepot too, they have gone down the tubes in recent years. Lowes is much better. Hate that it's a big box but it's better then what's around me.

84 lumber is also a joke :/ .... the only mom and pop place worth a damn near me is a really nice cedar distributor and that's about it.

So are mom-n-pop hardware stores going to make a comeback now that Crestron supports the Sonos, or does this just play into the hands of the evil multi-nationals?

Sooooo...is this happening yet? I asked my programmer buddy if he's worked with Sonos yet, but he has not. I'm guessing a database update will contain the drivers when it's ready. I need to do that...but I figured I'd ask first.

Have had it up and running for a few weeks now. Modules released in October.

And the same goes for the home tech professional. We're all used to designing and selling systems with A - B - C. But here's the deal... you're probably going to find that just A is all your customers need or want and it probably works pretty good. What are the financials of URC and RTI going to look like if CEC actually works? We laugh but what if it happens? What is video distribution going to be for us if TVs get apps? That's coming. If you sell high end HDMI systems they're going to disappear quick when you don't need to force HDMI over cat5 to get 4k to TVs.

We do luxury high end, and were early adopters of DigitalMedia when architects removed cabinets from every room. Video distribution is pretty much dead except in the upper reaches where there are just too many rooms and the project is commercial (or larger) in scope.

Same with remotes. We still need remotes (like the incredible TSR302) for rooms with more than a TV, but with TiVo we now have up to 10 rooms in a house with only a small box behind the TV and a TiVo remote (with qwerty keyboard) controlling TV and internet streaming.

Sonos still doesn't fit our clientele well (older set), but integrators with younger clients can do well with Sonos.

Selling Savant, Control4 and Crestron, I can tell you I can give you all three systems for the same price.
