these from lowes for like $8 work great and reliable and dim quite low. have a ton of them in my house with caseta dimmers with no neutrals.

[Link: usa.philips.com] these work well too. they have a second bank of led's that fire up to alter color temp. they have more of an orange look when it switches banks similar to an incandescent when its dimmed. However it is a little noticeable when you ramp up the dimmer and it switches from just the one bank of leds to the other. but all in all not a bad bulb and dims pretty low.

with all i modify the low end trim on the dimmers to get as low as i can reliably without flicker. I generally also kill the bulb then hit dimmer up once numerous times to make sure it always turns on. If it doesn't do it 100% of the time then i go up a little more on the trim.

LED lighting is still a bit of a crap shoot. I recently tried a SmartRay LED bulb and was very impressed. I use Crestron lighting and it was by far the best bulb for dimming I've used.

Have you used the Par 38? The house that I am quoting has mainly this size bulb.
As I have stated, I am mainly focused on how low this bulb will dim. I build scenes for cool lighting stuff along with music.

My quest would be much easier if they would publish low dimming specs. This is the real world issue that I was talking about. I know it would change per dimmer, but a range would be nice to eliminate the other crap.

I wonder if this new part (#ILR-10K) the Pulseworx aka PowerLine Control Systems released for their UPB dimmers would work properly on other dimmers? and improve dimming efficacy?

[Link: pcslighting.com]

I do install UPB dimmers but have not used this new part yet. It is basically a resistor. I don't even know how well it works with their own dimmers, but I assume it gets the job done on their stuff.

Rhea, these are not expensive. If you have a Ra system that you could experiment with (I don't), you might consider getting and trying 1 or 2 of these? Home Controls in SoCal or Worthington east cost probably has them.

Just a thought. If they work, they would allow you to pretty much spec any dimmable LED bulb you want.....................................maybe.

I have a self installed Radio Ra2 in my house and have had pretty good luck with Sylvania LED lights from my local Menards. Most are 75W or 100W equivalent, 2700k-3000k. A few don't like to be dimmed down lower than 20% but for the most part work pretty well. I'm using 6CL, 6NA, 10ND and some rr-3ld lamp dimmers.
