Has anyone ever successfully extended a playstation or x-box controller over 30ft?
We have a media room where the xbox and ps2 are in an audio rack and the customer wants to plug the controller into the wall so that they dont have to have wires across the floor. We tried soldering the connections but as of yet have not been successful in getting the controllers to work over 25ft.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would recommend using Logitech wireless controllers.The range is very good on these controllers and they are very responsive.

Exactly. The source of my weekend with the decorator from hell included installation of X-Box, Playstation ( except the contractor could not locate one ) and Nintendo game cube all being controlled by logitech wireless controllers. They Logitech controllers worked flawlessly.

Like AVX said, go with the wireless controllers. I have them, they are slightly bulkier than the wired controllers, but it only takes a day to get comfortable with them.
We never use the standard controllers at all anymore. Why do they want 30' of wire laying across the floor?
There is absolutely no difference in response.

Question on the wireless controllers - I have 3 PS2's in my house and will probably add a 4th in the basement. Will I be able to go with more than one set of wireless controllers? Has anyone done this before? If so, is there a distance i need to keep them separated? 3 would be ideal (one set on each floor)

Xbox and Playstation use USB protocals... Just different end connectors. THere are lots of USB-Cat 5 adaptors out there than can be adapted. USB just has a physical limitation of about 5 Meters... More than that and it craps out without amplification.
WIreles is NOT the same if your a serious gamer, and there can be some serious interference issues if you got 4 people playing Halo2 in the same room.....

The Logitechs have good range... Yes, that could cause issues....
This is usually only if you got people who take their games overly seriously (I include myself in that definition)
When I'm just playing Campaign mode, I'll use my RF controller (Much easier to throw across the room) but when I'm Online, its WIred all the time..........

Computer games are a generation after mine so forgive the basic question. I have used the Logitech wireless controllers once or twice without issue. I am programming a job where the all 3 major game platforms are installed and Logitech wireless game controllers are installed for each of them. This is not my installation but it may soon be. I believe there is one receiver per game platform.
The children a complaining that the Logitech controllers are locking up a lot. I suspect the issue is interference. The few times I have been there programming I have noticed the kids playing Madden NFL or what ever it is called. Would a "serious" gamer lock up a wireless controller? Any way to minimize this occurance? Is the speed the buttons are pressed over load the receiver? It is past the time for a wired solution. Not my problem but a solution would not hurt a rising stock price. Any ideas would be appreciated. The Logitech web site is not very useful. Might additional wireless receivers be advantageous?
