I have completed an HAI setup in our new house . With the help from the guys at automated outlet it was a breeze. I have zigbee thermostats and door locks . UPB lighting . Wired door sensor and zigbee window sensors. I have a home theater system that run with a URC MSC 400 and Mx 980,780. independently everything works they way it should and that is the current problem

I want to be able to tell my home theater system that I want to watch a movie. Then i want HAI to dim movie light set thermostat as needed and began movie. Once the movie is over I want HAI and URC to communicate this to the light to run them back on open blinds it they had been close and any other weird things that I might think up.

Anyone out there have any ideas on how to accomplish this. I am a Diyer. I pride myself in my own work. So far everything has been done by me .I would like option that will allow me to continue in such a way.

I know that HAI has the Home theater extender. HAI is supposed to be able to integrate directly through to URC but I am not sure how that happens. I am also aware that I rule has an HAI module that will allow control ,but not sure if that is what I am after as I don't know if URC would support Irule

Any Help would be nice

You need RS232 connection.
Issue HAI1 (for example) command from URC and have HAI listen for that message.
Or you can use any ASCII text up to 10 or 12 characters.

On the URC side, you could always use the port sensing and drive a relay from HAI.

While I'm a dealer for both URC and HAI and have that integration on TC platform and used it on CCP as well, the above links were provided with less than a min worth of google vudu.
You'll have to do a little digging; both platforms are more or less professional solutions so there will be somewhat limited open forum / web information on them.

Thanks Mario, Its a start. I am willing to pay something for the help and knowledge that you provide. My panel and URC system are in 2 different locations. I have Ethernet that run to bot location but I am unable to run a single cat5 line from one end to the other for the rs232.
So how much for the knowledge? I'm not joking .

URC can tell hai what to do all day long. RS232 is the way to do it. Anything HAI can do, URC can tell it to do that. Having HAI tell URC what to do is a whole different story. Possible, but more complicated.

You have a spare Ethernet? That will work even at two different location as long as you can get from the HAI to the URC.

As far as UPB goes, you will have MUCH fast response by having URC talk directly to UPB and not go thru the HAI. Use a PIM or CIM and have URC talk directly to UPB via RS232.

If you forego the HVAC, the MSC can control the upb lighting on its own and you wont even need to communicate with the HAI at all. HOwever, if you cant, it opens up other automation possibilities, ie when alarm set for away, turn off all av, etc.
