I like purple tints with the defroster line bubbles.

LOL! DIY crap turns purple.

3M or Suntek applied professionally is the only way to go!

My Bimmer is the the first car I had done with something less then 5%, I Did it with 20% on the sides and 5% on the rear. Looks perfect and Classy!

All of my vehicles previous (including my new Transit) has 5% on it!

I don't want to turn this into a ginger joke, because this is really serious for light-complected people, but you don't recommend tinted windows for everyone because one person you know should stay out of the sun.

Well, if you look at the one link I previously posted, you'll see they have found that for people that have been diagnosed with skin cancer, they have 57% higher rates of cancer on the drivers window side. (In America that's left side, in England, they found higher rates on the right side). so after reading about this, yeah, if you recommend sunscreen and big hats to everyone, then window tinting may not be a bad idea either.

Glass in cars, like homes, is UV treated so getting tinted windows won't help.

The only way for your friend's issue to be caused by the sun while driving is if he ONLY ever has the window DOWN.

I dont understand how someone could question your claim. It's obvious that "driver arm" is getting 100X more sun than "passenger arm". My two forearms are totally different colors and there are a dozen freckle/moles on my left arm.

Tinted windows make you feel cool, and it's been proven that anything that makes you feel cool reduces cancer risk. Gold chains are typically as effective, a cape perhaps, or possibly drawing a six pack on your stomach.

AND you can drive around buck naked!

That's what I thought. But if you look it up, you'll find that the front windshields are UV blocking, but side windows in most cars are not. As for Windows in homes, most of those aren't either unless you upgraded them. Move your furniture and see if the floor is a different color where it's been covered.

So many believe you develop it from driving around in a car or sitting in a house without treated windows. And where? In the north east or the sun deprived England? People in Florida should be withered up by now. Where is Ernie on this.
Although I do not believe in many studies unless the findings match from both sides of the controversy turning in results. I want a test with results from country, states or providence, county, city, ethnicity, age, diet, habits, employment, recreational activity. Driving to work for thirty minutes with one arm exposed to sun thru untreated glass. Do not buy it.

You want vitamin D, drink milk

Too many, may and likely in that article. And women as passengers? How many women currently drive? For the most part all. Looks like the need more funding to continue research as suspected.

Speaking of one arm vs. the other, and leaving aside the cancer risk, I hate the 'asymmetric farmer's tan' effect it causes.

You mean the plastic lawn chairs and cinder blocks?
