You must have been pulled over in a bad area my friend.
Mostly within 1 block of my house on the North West side of Chicago.
The last time I was pulled over, I was clocked 69 in a 50, maybe 45. He walks up to my window, asks "Are you such and such?" Using my real name of course. My reply was "Yes sir." I call a lot of people sir, so don't think I was doing it because he's a cop. lol
I was usually driving well under the speed limit. These were not traffic stops they were typical "you look younger than 30 so i can break as many laws as i want while harassing you" stops.
Anyways. I handed him my insurance and reg. He comes back 3 minutes later. "Slow down please."
KOT
For me it was usually "get the f out of here" after having my vehicle damaged and being handed a bogus ticket.

I don't really remember law enforcement caring about doctors notes. Typical stop would be everyone get out of the car and lay down on the ground. One cop watching over you with his gun out while the other rips through your interior looking for weapons of mass destruction. Then a 5 minute period where they decide whether you ran a stop sign or a red light before writing you a ticket. Your tints and subwoofers were fair game. They liked to poke holes in the surrounds. Lucky for me i got my subs from the old guy at the flea market who made and repaired them.
I was wondering when this sort of cop behavior would be mentioned. Tinted windows yell GANGBANGERS at a cop and push his paranoia button something fierce.
I believe Mac might have been in Chicago when this happened, a pretty rough place with pretty rough cops. Florida would not have been much different.
I've heard for years that tinted front windows are just illegal here in California, the reason being so that cops can see who's driving. Again, gangs.

Chicago cops like to take your car keys and scratch your front tints when they "feel" like they are too dark. After dealing with this a couple of times and being fined i just quit putting tints on my front windows.
Fortunately the darkness has very little effect on the UV rating. Back in the 80's we did front glass with a clear tint for a lot of the cops in Orlando & Winter Park to keep their cars cool. Of course this does take a very good tinter.
Redheaded from Irish descent. Got it from his dad. His mom and sister can tan dark. His mom though shows the wear from years in the sun, but has no problems.
This means that he should know from square one that his skin is more vulnerable to damage from sunlight than most people.
I don't want to turn this into a ginger joke, because this is really serious for light-complected people, but you don't recommend tinted windows for everyone because one person you know should stay out of the sun.

After 20+ years of driving, numerous traffic stops and 3 tinted window citations I elected not to tint the front windows on my new truck. I just do not feel like dealing with cops. Funny thing is every cop that I know has their windows tinted on their personal vehicles.
It is a damn shame that we have to be uncomfortable and possibly at higher risk of cancer in the name of officer safety and to make it easier for them to spot cell phone use. We also get the pleasure of hotter interior temps and letting passing thieves see what you have in your vehicle when it is parked. Somehow the people in our neighboring state are able to do it without anarchy and chaos but we are not.
State next door allows people to carry guns in their tinted window, no front license plate having cars too.

Last 6 plus cars have come from the dealer with tinted windows (usually 35 all the way around).
35 is nothing. Thats the legal limit in Illinois nowadays. Used to be you could go darker on the back, but now thats allowed only on SUV's for some reason.
Tinted windows make you feel cool, and it's been proven that anything that makes you feel cool reduces cancer risk. Gold chains are typically as effective, a cape perhaps, or possibly drawing a six pack on your stomach.

Plus, with tinted windows, you can pick your nose without getting busted.

I don't care if it's only the 5th. NICE.

There are different grades of tint. Some filter UV (which is the only thing that would matter with regards to skin cancer) and others turn purple and form air bubbles after a year.

Yeah, 20 was the standard back in the day (even for the front doors), 5 was for pimping and other unlawful activities
Besides tinting your side and rear windows, another good thing to do is also tint the windshield and sunroof. Even though the sunroof is already tinted, I have my tint guy put limo tint over that. And I also tint all of my windshields; before you all get your panties in a bunch about the safety of this...they have special tint for windshields that are barely noticeable (or clear) but block much of the UV spectrum coming through.
Keep in mind, I live in Vegas, with 292 days of sun per year...tint isn't a luxury here, it's a necessity.

I like purple tints with the defroster line bubbles.
