Trying to find a compact, shallow receiver (stereo or multichannel, only two speakers are being driven) which has a depth of 12.5" or LESS ... and support for discrete IR power and source/input selection.

The Denon AVR-S510BT comes mighty close, but has a depth of 12.6" and that extra .1" won't work, believe it or not.

This is for a shallow cabinet, natch; width isn't an issue, standard 17" is fine; height < 4" would be ideal, but 5-6" is viable.

Any advise much appreciated!

I'm just curious, if it is that tight, what are you doing to account for wiring?

Parasound zpre and zamp would work for depth. No tuner from them. 4 inputs, controllable, make sure you vent the cabinet as the amp runs hot. Will make your speakers sound great...

How many sources? What TV? What remote are you using?

Can you switch sources using the TV, and just install something like the Snap AV mini 2 ch. amp and bring the audio from the TV?

Otherwise, Yamaha RX-V series list their depth at 12 3/8" without the wifi antenna installed. :)

But, the published specs don't allow for any connections on the rear.

Netarc is a pro. He would not come here to ask us for a 12.5" receiver to fit in a cabinet that is 12.5" deep. He knows to account for cable connections and service loops, etc. :)

I'll bet that before he started this thread, he looked at the depth he had available, subtracting what will be necessary for wiring, and then asked us about a receiver the size of that remaining amount.

He's a pro, right? Do you need him to come on here and discuss all the dimensions of the cabinet so you can, yourself, subtract for wiring? I admit that I sometimes call WHOA and ask to back up a step, but that's when I see a question for what looks like a bad idea. I then want to know how the guy got to that point, and often another solution presents itself.

Give him credit for asking for what he needs. He could have written a term paper on it, but you guys often don't like it when I point out everything I see... so, no winning.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks - yes, actually the space available is scant 13.5", hence the need for <12.5" receiver. That said, the Denon I mentioned MIGHT well work, but I was hping to err on side of safe and find a 12" receiver.

I'll try to attached the pic of the space with additional details, in case that's of assistance?

I'll check out the RX-V, thank you!

3-4 sources, 3 of them HDMI; a pretty ancient plasma TV with 1, maybe 2, HDMI inputs. remote is a URC MX-series

fwiw, what I'd really like to do is move them to a soundbar (the playbar, since she uses Sonos, but for the lack of TV input switching; so probably something like a Yamaha) ... but the client is quite tied to the idea of using their existing in-wall speakers.
