Hello all. I'm doing my first install of Xantech's newish SPLCD64V - has anyone done one yet, and if so, what are your general comments (i.e., ease of install, ease of programming, etc. etc.).

And if someone has interfaced it to an Audio ReQuest, I'd especially like hearing from you, as this is the specific application. I've installed a couple of ReQuest's before (also Meda's new Bravo), but not with a touchpanel.

Might you try to be a bit more specific about the ARQ. What about a TP interface would you like to know?

Have spent all day programing one and would say its extremly easy albiet time consuming. There is no copy and past functions and the buttons don't tell you what font they are!!
Unless i'm blind?
Also as there is only one Video input we are looking at using a seperate pre-amp so you can preveiw programs without changing whats on screen! Unless anyone has a better Idea?
Installing later this week so...

Use the Xantech Remote controlled audio and video switcher (RP41AV). I have use this onseverl of the video touchpanels and it works great. I mostly use it for cameras. You can piggy back them together but then it becaomes very hard to program the software. They need to come out with one that has 8 inputs.

I would love to hear your progress on the project. I read Xantech's technical notes last night but I haven't digested them yet. Looks like any existing 6.4's have to be swapped out for two way action with their tuner, ect. correct?

I'm not clear to what you're referring. I'm expecting the product tomorrow, and will post my experience. Sounds like its programming is relatively straight-forward, assuming experience w/DragonDrop IR.

I think the RS232 is bidirectional on the 6.4's

It is bi-directional, but it only accepts a preset list of ascii. I think there is 128 commands if I remember right.

So now all the new LCD's will get feedback from the Dual tuner? Any previous LCD's will not give feedback? If so that sucks.

The older ones can do it but you just have to upgrade the firmware.

Thats nice to know. No one at xantech never mentioned that the old lcd's would not work without an upgrade.

The preset list of ascii can be customized yourself. So to display tuner settings this firmware upgrade includes a number of screen graphic calls within? I don't recall a method in the software that allows you to (given incoming ascii data) bring up specific screens that have been designed (via photoshop, ect) and imported. If that were so I suppose you could design your own tuner station preset screens. Lots of questions. One things for sure, right now the engineers over there seem to be way ahead of the people documenting the products!

It isn't a screen call so to speak but more of a status bar on a specific or multiple pages that will change as the data changes. If you have the most current dragon software, set it to emulate a mrc88 keypad and when you right click on the screen it will give you more options to add than just text and pip. It will give you a status bar option for mrc status, one for mrc information and also one for volume level. I don't know if one of these are to be used for the dual tuner or if they will add another specific option for tuner status.

Thanks Erik, I went back and read the update posting more thoroughly. Looks like a complete re-write is in the cards for me as the feedback displays from the MRC88 are a great addition and should be mandatory. Well, I guess it was good exercise.
