Well, I've started w/this product, and I must say there's a lot to be desired. Disclaimers: I'm not a Xantech guru, in that I've not worked w/the MRC88's and am no RC68 jockey. My experience w/Xantech has been limited to date to their basic Ir products, and a couple of URC-2's. Yes, I am a new WAVE dealer. But: I have done Sonance K2 keypads, and have done a couple HTM MX-3000's. Now, onto the "review":

1) The Dragon-Drop LCD software is very poorly executed . Xantech needs REAL help in this regard, if only to read a basic book on Windows programming conventions. Examples: CTRL-C does not copy to the clipboard, CTRL-V does not paste. There is no un-do command. There's a lot of things like this. Much like the Dragon-Drop Ir software for the URC-2 programming - and that's not a compliment.

2) No ability at all to edit or change graphics once created (!). Example: you must pick a background for the LCD display at the beginning of the programming process. This then forces you to use a particular set of buttons (which is a problem in its own right). You can then not change the background or overall style AT ALL. If you don't like the way the screen looks when downloaded, you're out of luck: you must start over from scratch.

3) The display itself has poor resolution - graphics look course, and smaller fonts (12 point or lower) are difficult to read.

Granted, I am at the beginning of the learning curve, and my opinion may change somewhat, although the basic issues with the programming software will not go away regardless of experience.

I have no doubt as to the flexibility of this product, especially when used in a grand Xantech system, but at this point, I'm disappointed.

Forgot to mention that ReQuest provided me w/a special TV theme that's designed for the SPLCD64V - I've yet to try it . . .

You can paste buttons from other scheme's into a collection. You have to do both versions for each button (highlighted and non). The button collections are never complete however so it is pretty frustrating. You are right about programming conventions, there are none. I loved the Matisse background, they were on to something there, but my client hated the buttons that came with it. They appear to be actively working on it, and I must admit the IR and RS232 control implementation has been flawless. Maybe the graphics & standardizations will come. The HTM MX3000, as another example, has also been very slow to fruitation. I don't think Xantech can rely on 3rd parties or installers though to improve their graphic collections, it is too much work like work, they have to do it themselves.

Hi

Don't know if I'm too late on this one but, I did this yesterday and it works a dream! If you want to know more you can post a question on our forum site for Xantech at www.martekuk.co.uk

Cheers
