I am installing an escient fireball in a house on tuesday. I cannot get a internet connection to the fireball easily. Currently the homeowner has wireless internet in the house. The customer has D-link DWL-900AP+ modules all over the house. I need to know what type of D-link equipment I would need to connect to the fireball. I believe that the house is running off of 802.11.b at 2.4 Ghz. I do not know what type of router (or whatever it is called) to connect the fireball to the wireless internet. Wireless internet is not my stong subject. Any help would be appreciated.

Be very careful on hardware selection. I burned up several hours of time one day because the first Escient tech support person told me any USB to ethernet adaptor would work, and then a second Escient tech support person said the adaptor selection was quite critical.

I forget, specifically. I'll ask my guy that did the work tonight when he's back.

Does your Fireball have an ethernet port, or an HPNA port? It make a difference.

Although theoretically all 802.11b products should be compatible with each other, I have heard that D-Link can be a little funny. I assume the wireless router is D-Link, and not just the repeaters that you mention? If so, you should try one of D-Link's own Ethernet-to-Wifi adapters. Just plug it into the Escient port and, assuming you're in range, it should work.
