Although theoretically all 802.11b products should be compatible with each other, I have heard that D-Link can be a little funny. I assume the wireless router is D-Link, and not just the repeaters that you mention? If so, you should try one of D-Link's own Ethernet-to-Wifi adapters. Just plug it into the Escient port and, assuming you're in range, it should work.
