Seven more companies just went under because he posted the passord. Customers everywhere that were using custom installers are firing them because theuy can now access all those top secret files on the RTI site.

I just gained password access to a company that manufactures medical test equipment. I'm firing my heart surgeon.

For those who have managed to twist your underwear
up around your f@*&^%g ears, the info that I gave
out has been given out to custys by RTI before
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are totally right. It is their password to give out, and one has to talk to them to get it.

My problem is actually based on an assumption, which is that wholesale pricing might be available once logged onto the site, and this forum is not in any way limited to those who have a right to know.

But it is not our right to give the password to anyone, let alone publish it where QQQ can be put out of business because he is spending all his time writing responses.

And for that matter, did it even help? There has not yet been a response from onetime! And no response as to why he did not have his email address in his profile, or whether he even tried calling the company.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie,

I agree the password should not have been published, simply because a password is given in confidence and received in confidence. I just get humored sometimes how people go crazy over relatively litle things. I'd guess there is no confidential pricing on the site but could be wrong. Nice quip about me though - I liked it :-).

i figured it was probabaly like the sections of many sites that are public. Probably no different than the files you can get here. Some companies just decid to password it. Frankly, I usually consider it a pain in the ass unless there's truly private info there like dealer pricing.

There is obviously a disconnect between dealers who can at least appreciate some manufacturer's attempt to keep their products and software from being whore'd on the internet, etc. from those that are just trunkslamming, low margin, bad business people. We can't have it both ways - complaining about no-overhead competition + shrinking margins, and then working against manufacturers that try to help us.

even if you're able to get the software to download, the download cable isn't sold with the remote like a lot of other remotes. good job with that but i'm sure people will find a way to get them.
