I just wanted to get some opinions on the new dodge/benz/frightliner sprinter as i am about to order one this week. We are maken the move to them since they are much more economical gas wise 22 miles to the gallon! also the room and length of them seam great. I have yet to test drive, but have heard GREAT things about this new truck till this week when i started to do my research. Some love it, some say its ok, and some love it but say it has a few flaws like pick-up, going up hills ect.... They say its got the ballz but doesn't move when you floor it. ALso, was wondering if anyone had one last year in the cold weather, in particulare the snow.
We have a chevy now and its great, but since its time to get a new one, i figure the best way to go is the sprinter with out going to a box truck which i do not like!
I know someone on this site has an opinion and info.

I've had my eye on that one as well. Car & Driver had good things to say about it. Please let us know what your decision ends up being, and how you like it if you do buy it.

Check with some UPS drivers, I know they have a handful of them.
My UPS driver said the same thing; no gitty-up and go. He had other complaints as well, but I can't remember right now.
Last spring I went for the Chevy Express with the ACCESS package. Those doors are awesome. Only drawback is all wheel drive is not available in 3/4 or 1 ton versions.

It's hard to make a vehicle that gets great mileage and has good acceleration.

He was trying to be emphatic, I think
Diplomacy is the art of saying hire a pro without actually saying hire a pro

I think that as a first time poster he was perhaps not aware of his mistake and how it would appear on RC... CAPitol punishment is a sport of sympathy around here..

Actually he touched on one of the things I want to know more about. On the sales lit for this behemoth it is recommended for daily commutes and short trips etc. I WAS wondering about how it would do on very long regular trips. All day driving. Hmm... What about throwing a bigger alternator on there too...

I plan on replacing my fleet with these one by one as they are ready to trade in, so I am interested if anyone else has any comments. They look like a great vehicle, and of course, if they are successful, then other manufacturers will copy, just like the minivan, and so the price will drop a bit - at least I am hoping it does!

My goof!
Not totally up on the merging trends of auto mfg. I was previously thinking only of the Freightliner "tagged" unit. But did see the Dodge "tagged" unit the other day.

oh well, carry-on!

This is what I've heard, haven't tried yet...

While the sprinter does have great space, look out for the tires. Sure, it corner's well, but it basically uses "car" tires. Why is that an issue? A lower ground clearance. Those of you who battle snow, mud, (and in this day and age) flooding and hurricanes may want to keep that in mind.

The fact it uses car tires has nothing to do with ground clearance. It's the tire & rim size that will give better ground clearance providing you had it in the first place. The fact it uses car tires means lower replacement costs and lower prices for snow tires. Not a bad thing IMHO. Depending on the model type the tire sizes are 195/70/15, 225/70/15 or 225/65/16 non of these tires are low profile tires. I've seen similar tire sizes on vans.

If you battle snow on regular basis, only snow tires will work. Ground clearance only helps when you've received a large snow fall and the drifts are high.

The Canadian version only comes with a 154 hp/245 ft. lbs turbo diesel. A decent amount of torque for a van.
Logic is a systematic method of coming to the wrong conclusion with confidence.
