I know this used to exist because I used it before I just can't remember who made it. Basically I have two IR systems that I want to feed to a single source. There used to be a y adapter or something like that would allow you to hook up two IR systems to 1 IR emitter, with some kind of protection built in so those signal would only go to the emitter. It had a diode inline or something like that. Maybe it was an emitter that had this built in, I just don't recall. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

It has two diodes and you could make your own. Attach the cathodes by twisting the wires together and attach this to the + wire to the LED. Each anode connects to the + wire from the mini plugs and the - wires need to be connected/covered with heat-shrink tubing after the diode and its connections have been made and covered with heat-shrink tubing. Use heat shrink to cover the diodes and the assembly.

You can get diodes at Radio Shack- 1N4001 work fine for this and they're very cheap. I used a short cable with mono mini plug on each end for this.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

May I ask what is wrong with the premade Xantech solution. Science projects are fun, but not on a client's system.

Do you happen to have a model for this?

Second Banana should get credit for this. I have used this product many times over the years, great solution.

Depends on how soon it's needed and availability. When I needed one, the local distributor had fired the only person who had a freaking clue, so they couldn't help. I found the answer here, so I made one- took a whole ten minutes and I didn't have to drive across town, where all of the distributors are located.

Not on a client's system? How do you think Xantech makes these- Keebler elves? Are we not in the Custom Integration business? It's not rocket surgery- two diodes and a bit of cable. That's all.

And now that it appears to be disco'd, what would YOU suggest? It works, it's cheap and the parts are easily available. I don't see a problem.

The connecting block is discontinued, not the emitter. So I am still suggesting the correct solution for the job. They are handy to keep in stock, I have a couple on my truck.

If you don't like the proven science part... you could always pray for it to work. A diode is a diode whether it's installed here or China.

Pray that a Xantech part works?? I think they they have a proven history in the IR domain.
