So it appears the transponders were shut down, there were two Iranian dudes with suspicious passports... Im thinking this was no accident. Plus the plane flew waaaaaay off course.
Thoughts?

2/3 chinese passengers. Wouldn't seem like Iranian guys would want to piss of the best friend "china" of there only major ally "russia". But they're not know for logical thinking in that neighborhood.
Does seem fishy.

With today's technology it is hard to believe that a plane can just disappear, shows us how much we need to improve.
Looks like this is going to be another Air France type disaster that will take years to find and many mysteries to speculate about.

They have determined those 2 people with the passports weren't likely to be terrorists. Nothing about the other passengers on board.

Why would a hijacker turn off the transponders, turn around and fly for hours, and end up in the ocean with a plane full of Chinese, and then no groups take credit for the act?
I discussed this with a client that is a forensic scientist. What I didn't realize is the way the transponders work is they send a signal when they receive a radar signal. They aren't just actively broadcasting all the time. And the radar systems in that region of the world are mostly line of sight. If the plane had to descend suddenly to below 10,000 feet, the radar wouldn't be able to pick it up.
The whole thing is strange and none of the normal answers really fit

Global warming!
I'm with Mogul, Heist. If the plane was downed because of terrorism, your would think somebody would be claiming responsibility by now.

I believe the plane was flown somewhere, god knows about the people, and is going to be used for something bigger latter.
its not in the water.
Plane loses communication completely and not a single seat cushion floating on the surface.
They are not ready to claim responsibility yet.

They are not ready to claim responsibility yet. Also, the emergency transmitter has sensors that activate when they come into contact with sea water and that hasn't happened. The jet engines have telemetry, too- sends info to GE or Rolls Royce on a regular basis and that's how they know it flew for 4 hours after radar lost contact. It was fueled to go about 2500 miles- just a matter of time until it's found. Middle East is definitely in that 2500 mile circle- so is North Korea. Knowing that Iran and N Korea have had weapons deals in the past, I wouldn't be surprised to find that they're in cahoots on this caper although Ahmadinejad has been conspicuous in his silence, lately. They're due to elect a new President, so he's irrelevant at this point. Unless.....
