How would you control existing lamps with Pronto 6000( using IR)? How reliable is 6000 using RF?

depends on what the budget is...
you could go radiora, some spacers on switched outlets in the wall, or gulp...x-10, with a xantech type IR converter...

I wholeheartedly recommend that Spacer System lamp dimmer. The lutron remote seems to have a surprisingly strong IR emitter, but if you want to control it with a pronto, you need an emitter on it. Good news is that it has a long "umbilical cord" so you can stick it behind a table or on the floor. I agree w/ avdude about X-10... avoid like the plague.
