A little off topic for this forum, but no other place in here to ask for input on this.

I have downloaded the FireFox browser after listening to Kim Komando comment on it during her computer oriented radio program Saturday.

She did say that the first versions had some problems, but that they seemed to have straightened them out.

So far, I have had no problem with it, and it is loading web sites at two to three times the speed that Internet Explorer does, including remote central.... and that is through a 1.1 Gig cable modem system.

It seems too good to be true. Considerably faster than IE, with practically no hackers even caring about it, so far less security issues.

So far, all I can say is not bad at all for a free program. I should mention, if you decide to download it, it comes without much Java support. The first site you hit with some Java apps running will display a "Click Me" message to download the Java... also free.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and if you have encountered any problems.

Thanks

I got so sick of IE crashing tonight that i downloaded Firefox.

I got the same results you did- MUCH faster loading, better password management, no pop-ups (even on Drudgereport, which has 2 popups), and, most importantly, Fark.com's photoshop contests didn't crash the browser!
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

Played with it a little more last night and still haven't had any problems with it. I agree Impaqt, the tabbed browsing feature is handy, especially when comparing things from several different sites.

I have been using Mozilla for about 3 years now and have really enjoyed it. I convert whomever sees me working on my laptop. I was about to swap out to FireFox on the Notebook. Heck... no time like right now!

You all should read my "little warning" post. Then you can really laugh at my stupidity. My IT guy loaded Firefox on my machines. I have had a real bitch of a time with "hotbar" (again... read the warning). I thought it was another bad one so I deleted it too.

When my machine gets back up I will be using it per my guys recommendation... he says it kicks ass and is more secure than IE

and that is through a 1.1 Gig cable
modem system.

Warren, no disrespect meant here, but is this a typo, a fib, or mis-information?

If none of the above, then where can I get a 1.1 GIG (10 times faster than T3) cable connection and modem??!! Cause I want one!!

I will however, based on recommendations here, give firefox a shot!

GigEs have the equivalent bandwidth of 22 T3s with a transmission rate of over 1000 Mbps or 1Gbps. Saw a price of $3999.00/month.

OC48 Optical Service offers the fastest commercial connections available today for transmission of massive amounts of data with maximum efficiency and reliability at 2.488 GPS Better bring your banker with you for this one.

WOW, I want one of those too AVDude... LOL..... My brain doesn't multi-task as well as my computers. 1.1 Meg.... though Cable One is now advertising their average speed is 1.5.

Sorry for the confusion.
