I will support my own company and buy what's best for me. Not them. I think they have more than enough money to spare a few sales

Even though I just bought a Strong rack yesterday the truth is that omnimount didn't have the right size or I would have went straight for them. Look how much snap charges just for a glass door alone. Not just them but manufacturers in general. I would love it if snap added it in to their contractor package or at least threw some side panels on their kits.

I hate having to piece meal everything down to the screws. Oh yeah and dealing with all that cardboard is a real pleasure too. Lol. The room looks like a garbage dump when I'm done with it. Haha

Well said my friend.

And I wouldn't compare MA to Omni, Strong or Omni. MA is a higher end product. I'm a MA dealer and I use them when the job calls for it.

Seriously...

Why the race to the bottom? Support a US company like Middle Atlantic, Lowell, Raxxess (Chief), or Chatsworth...

dont get me wrong for higher end clients they get Middle Atlantic. But for middle systems that are small cheap racks are a good way to get the client into a more efficient system saving them money in the long run. Some jobs you cant justify a Middle Atlatic rack, especially when its filled with commercial equipment that only gets seen maybe once a month by the manager and its down behind a door in a basement.

I do like Raxxess though!

They're perfect if I don't want to charge a client $5-8k for a MA rack of the same size and configuration.

The snap package is a good deal, if you are going to piece the snap rack together you might as well use midatlantic.

I'd like to see their package allow substitutions. And as said before, the cardboard is ridiculous, a middle Atlantic 1u cones in a tiny box, I have 8 snap shelves sitting on a shelf and they are taking up a ton of space.

The omni really is pretty nice for the money, the fan is loud, you need to add some accessories, but for an assembled outfitted rack like that you can't beat the price

When given the option, I'll buy American made. Middle Atlantic for me, top quality, better selection of accessories, available locally at multiple distributors, truly a better choice for custom racks.

I have been using these Omni racks for a year or so, and they have been great for us. As mid market installers, sometimes the discussion about a MA rack at 3k+ can be a little awkward.

I have been using this little guy for control of the fans: [Link: amazon.com] . They don't compare to quiet 12V MA fans, however if the rack is in a mechanical or storage room/closet they are not audible with the door closed.

+1. Everyone on here acts like we all only do 100K jobs and every install needs Crestron. When you do low to mid market jobs you need cheap solutions so you can still make money on the equipment.

Yes sir, I understand you only paid $1000 for the TV, but the rack to hold your equipment is going to be $1500.

...just for the cabinet...before we add shelves, lacing bars, cable/power management, etc.

The Omni is the perfect solution for where the project wouldn't otherwise get any sort of rack at all. And regardless of all the "installer gripes", leaving that rack behind makes us look professional....it's a good looking rack with the clear plexi door, etc. I'd sooner leave that nice enclosed package with lights shining through the door and all wiring concealed rather than an open Slim 5 rack....at the same cost.
