I don't mean to be slow, but if you have a non-hdtv with component inputs, can you still get a picture from an HD cable box to show up? Obviously it wouldn't be true HD, but would the picture still show up?

Is it an older set eith Standard Componet Inputs or "Pregressive"?

If progressive, you'll be limited to 480P output, which most cable/sat boxes support.

If standard component, then you'll probobly be better off with S video to the TV.

Either way, you Can get "HD" on your SD display

But...The cable companies (at least out here) will not supply you with a high def box unless you have a high def display on site. I have seen them make a few exceptions, but not often.

Comcast out here is a pain. I was on site arguing with the dweeb to leave the box. When he insisted that he couldn't I had him call his manager on his Nextel. His manager laughed at him on the speaker and told him to leave the box. His exact quote was "Dude...those guys know more about this crap than you ever will." It was hard not to laugh, but I held it back because I felt bad for the guy.

Do most cable guys even the difference between HD & SD?

Cable guy did a hook-up on Friday for one of my clients, called and told me he had 12dB at the house and it was ready for me. I show up and no cable.
Turns out that the pedestal that he fed from was not even hot.
Makes me wonder where that meter reading came from.

Let's play pull a number out of our a$$.
