Recently used a Sharp LC-13E1UB in a behind the
two way mirror install.

Installed a purlin between studs, above and below
the area where the TV would be placed, with electrical
box cutout, and cable jack box cutout in the lower
purlin....

This is exactly what we are going to do. What did you use for audio? I'm assuming a single in-ceiling speaker driven off of the LCD but you know what they say about assuming....

Sheetrocker taped around the raw edges of the
rock when it was installed. Painter put a coat
of flat black in the recess area, and I made my
own mount for the LCD from some flat 1/8' metal
stock.

That's real clean Trunk Slammer. Especially the where-with-all to have the cavity painted black. I bet it looks great!

Prolly never heard of a "flinch plate" either.
True?

Nope, never have. I'm just a geeky propeller head with a short stint as a framer.

Is that a variation of "flitch plate?"

Alright guys, which is it?

You out there Trunk-Slammer ? It doesn't look to me like that set has speaker outs so I guess I'm going to have to find the smallest amp I can to put behind there.

Have been a tad busy....

Okay, so I can't type for shit......shoot me....lol

I meant fli T ch plate.

Brain gets going, and the rest of me can't keep up.

TED,

I used the speakers in the LCD set. There was maybe a 3/4" gap all around the edges (from the wall) so the sound was just fine.

I wish I had a picture of that. They were pretty clear that they want the glass flat on the wall so I guess it's line level and a small amp in the wall up to a single speaker.

Well, you could always open the TV up and tap into the speaker wires, routing to a small ceiling speaker.

I haven't had to abuse anything like that in quite a while. Just goes to show how much more install friendly equipment has gotten in the past 15 years. I think I'll do it! First I'll take a look at the Samsung & the Philips to see if they have speaker out.
