I have been using Teac TR-670 tunersand need some discreet codes for power and "tuning mode". Anyone know if they exist. I have a feeling they don't, sooo anyone have a suggestion on a tuner that does have discreets. Rack ears would be nice too. I know it's usually less expensive to us a low end AVR receiver but I fear the tuner in thise is inferior.

Any ideas? Thanks

Try Denon...if you want to rack it. They usually have discrete codes for their stuff.

DADS...

please refer to the following link...

[Link: audioreview.com]

if you surf through the myriad of dedicated tuners and reviews, you're likely to find the tuner of your dreams, with discrete codes...

BTW...the Denon is not good except in HEAVILY populated areas...the PARASOUND is fantastic, and several yamahas are not bad!

U;timately though, you'll of course want to go with Magnum Dynalab...unless 3500-15,000 USD is out of range for a tuner?!

The parasound TDQ-150 is even better X2 and racked :)

The Elan DTNR (dual TEACs) has rack ears and all the discrete code control you need. wow, even RS-232.

The Russound ST2, which is another dual tuner, has the same capability in a 1U package.

Parasound does not have two sets of codes.

It does have Xantech compatible jacks on the backside to insert commands. With that feature, it's comparitively easy to "zone" tuners; one for the kitchen, one for the den, etc.

The folks at Parasound offer the aforementioned side by side option, as well as a filler to complete one rack space. (the unit is one rack unit high, and half a rack unit wide....)

The Parasound does not have seperate identity codes for the tuner. It has a direct IR input plug on the back of the unit so stray IR is not a factor. You cannot use more than one of these if you are using a "blaster" IR. I think the rack kit is about 25.00, but you can make your own very easily.

I have the codes in my arsenal if you need them.

I have them in Pronto/Marantz and Lexicon/RTI formats.
