Does anybody know if you can mount a plasma at a 45 angle? I know that we cannot mount it on a ceiling, but I have a client who wants to hang it on an angled wall to point to his bed.

Why cant you mount it on the ceiling?
As long as the panel is ventilated properly, angle should have no effect on performance.

I thought you could not due to the weight on the glass. Or maybe this is an old wives tale, along with the annual refilling of the gas at your local CC?

There is no problem mounting the plasma at a 45 degree angle. Usually when you have to do that it means it is up high and will be difficult to clean the dust off the fans though. Does it really need to be at a 45 degree angle though? Can you come up with another mounting solution or is it so high up that your client needs that angle?

The wall angles to the ceiling at a 45, and the customer thought that it would look cool that way. The only other location is over the fireplace, but it is not centered in front of the bed. Also, it would have to be up high due to the height of the mantle.

If the customer thinks it's cool then that's what he wants and you should give it to him. There should be no problem as long as you sink those lags into something solid :)

Greg,
Life is reduced on ceilings, less so at 45 Degrees and even less when hanging normally! There is some truth to that rumor, but not much. It's far more detrimental to hang a CRT face down...
All of which are FAR LESS DETRIMENTAL than hanging one at 9000 feet.
You should be fine, although the fans, as pointed out, will be PERFECTLY positioned to collect the most dust possible at that angle!

Could I borrow that ladder you use to hang those 9000' installs sometime?
