I have a customer who has an elan system6 and z-100 keypads, which I am going to be installing and programming for him. Unfortunately this is my first of these systems and I am not familiar with it. He has all the software and paperwork, but I am trying to price it out and see what the programming is like.
Has anyone had an experience? And what am I in-store for? Is it like the pronto?
(He did not get the system for me, it was given as a gift)
Thanks,
Lonny

Can't program the keypads without VIA learner, dealer cost on that is $400. Other than that programing is caake, program one keypad and copy the file into the other keypads. Hundred times easier to program than a pronto

You can also use the Z-090 learner which does not require the use of a laptop.

Where can I purchase “Can't program the keypads without VIA learner” is it possible to get one if I am not a dealer? How many hours do you think I should charge out for this? Also, if he has the software the only way to get the codes from the comp to the keypads is this learner?
I would rather use a laptop to program but if I can not is it still feasible?

Thanks for your input,
Lonny

installer_574, yes you can use the Z090 to program keypads but that still cost money and takes a bit longer. Lonny, I don't think that you will find a dealer that would be willing to sell you a programer and it isn't a retail item that you can purchase, you might want to enlist a dealer in your area that "might be willing" to insatll and program the system for you. Probably not the answer that you were looking for, but its the best I got

I am not sure which ELAN dealer would even sell this to someone unless they were going to program it. There is no way to make it work without a Programming Z090 or VIA TOOLS kit. How does someone give this as a gift knowing full well they could not make it work.
Option #1 send your Remotes and keypads to a Elan dealer who will work with you for programming.
Option #2 find a Z090 or VIA TOOLS programming kit.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I think I have a Z-090 programmer that's not doing anything these days. Let me know if you're interested.

Call throckmorton sales. he seems to wanna give elan to anyone, and i know they can get you a Z-090 or a ViA learner. I do not use my Z-090 anymore because Via tools is so much easier.

Geez, you that busy? We haven't heard from you in a while either.

I'm sometimes workin', sometimes not. I am currently working for some former clients on the side, but REALLY want to be back in the A/V business. You got a job for me? ;)

My holdup now, is not having the VIA! Tools programmer.
IF I could aquire one, life would be great.
