Sigh... two weeks joke for RTI is just too easy and played out.
Hot Glue + TV Glass Bezel = Bad Day (yes, I did that, lesson learned)
I use the 3M Mastic as mentioned above or the emitter covers. They don't like the look, tough. Small amounts of a super glue can be okay for equipment (check Joanne Fabric, Michaels, Etc). Motorola now has those curved front boxes and sometimes I just say, sorry, get another box when they whine about the huge amount of sticky tape used to hold it in place.

also, ive been doing alot of this lately, especially funky shaped fronts. cracking the emitter shell open and removing emitter and simply placing where desired and placing scissor cut piece of electrical tape over it. it is very low profile and doesnt look bad at all. especially if black component.

For those that insert into the component - no concerns about warranty denial because you cracked open the case?

No concerns. Service calls typically cost a company $300 when you consider the truck roll/employee and attached overhead. Your lucky if you can charge $95 to re-stick an emitter. And your client is frustrated while they wait.

Keep a tube of Goop in your bag. It is very multi-use oriented. It holds better than hot glue or silicone, it can seal outdoor connections better than any other sealant, and is great for putting the kids' toys back together. [Link: plumbingworld.com]

Got to be kind of tight if you have to do a Sammy 7000 If you cant get it open easily (like the samsung thin series of TV's) then you have 2 choices. Dont spec product thats not CI friendly or stick the emitter on the face.

We have been using the Niles MF1. They changed their glue formula about two years ago and since then we haven't had issues with them falling off. Plus they come with flasher covers that are flat black, flexible and easily trimmed to fit and still sticky enough to stay put.

I've been using these lately. They hold very well, and will come off with Goo-Gone if necessary. [Link: gluedots.com]

Been using 3M mastic tape for years. You can pick it up at any Home Depot or Lowes. You can cut it to any size you need & almost never falls off. I never glue the flashers on because if you need to pull them off to service the equipment it looks like crap sometimes when you put them back on. Plus if the cable box is defective & needs to be swapped out the cable guy won't tear up the flasher. Not a fan of installing the flashers inside a device either. Tried it for awhile a few years back. It requires more labor & can be quite a pain in the -ss depending on the device. And same as above the cable guy will tear up the flasher resulting in a service call. In my "opinion" this is a bad idea & usually causes more problems that it solves. Web link is below:

If it's equiment I'm providing I usually crack it open and install the emitter inside... I do this for TVs too. You can just run the wire out the bottom or back, or if you want to get a little fancier, you can drill a hole in the back and install one of these to keep things cleaner: [Link: easyadapters.com]Now THAT is a clean install!
