Dup Post - But I need help!

I have two 3311s in the field and one here in the office that are having the same exact issues after an attempted software update....

This happened to me on Friday and I then got two calls today from clients with the same problem.

An on-screen notice says there is an upgrade available and when you select the download it goes through the normal 4 min. process (it actually takes about 7 mins) and then is says, "Failure" and then a code 083.

It will then attempt again and again with the same results.

So, per Matt I power off the unit, power on the unit while holding cursor up/down buttons, wait for display flash and that will cancel the download.

I then go into the menu and set the update/upgrade notification to "off"

However, after this happens I no longer have control of my ASD-11R dock - None.  If I select my ipod dock via my T2-C it will take me to USB input on the front of the unit.

If I use the Denon remote - nothing...

My mute buttons stops working too.  It will mute, but I have to hit vol. up to un-mute.

The same circumstances happen on all three AVRs in 3 different homes/locations.

I performed a hard processor reset as well and still nothing...

Help!

Yes, you do need a Sat. radio antenna.

You may want to install the 3311s, but turn off the upgrade/update notification first.

And I guess, don't connect them to the network until this gets sorted out.

I'm here. But at the moment I can't offer anything. I have copied the thread and forwarded it onto the office for feedback.

There isn't any reason for me to comment on the other thread until I actually have some info to offer. I will post info as soon as I have something to information.

Being that you have an account on the CI Portal, posting there may have been just as good of a way to make us aware of the issue.

Adding on to winesmiles post. I would run the update in your office. I have a 3311CI here that I ran the latest update on and it took with no issues.

Note: The latest update is only based on a Control 4 firmware adjustment.

Firmware update - Successful!

I had another AVR-3311CI fail updating firmware Friday and I emailed Matt all the particulars over the weekend.

He emailed our friends across the sea at 3am this morning and wrote me this morning asking what kind of control I was using on the AVR....  I said RS-232 via RP-1....

He called a bit later and said, "try disconnecting the RS-232 control"....  I said I would do - and I did.

Sure enough - the upgrade continued pass the point where it usually fails and it upgraded all aspects without fail.

Everything is up and working!!

Thanks again Matt!!

So to recap...you must have the serial connection unplugged prior to and during the update? Maybe there will be an update to fix the update procedure...

Yes, that's the temporary fix.

I'm sure an update will fix that, but before you complain too loudly just remember the days when you had to drag the thing in for service to get an update!
