Does the system allow for off-site remote access and control of thermostat? Is this going to be expandable to security and camera in the future?

It's programmable in SIMPL and System Builder, so one can assume that it will allow for custom two-way modules for integration with any subsystem...

Xpanel and Crestron Moblie allow for remote access.

But I wonder if they'll intentionally lock out that capability in this 'entry level' line.

They probably went out of their way to make the Prodigy gear incompatible with other Crestron products - I'm sure a programming lock-out would be minor.

"Control at Home or Away
Crestron pioneered the world’s first Ethernet control system, and Prodigy takes full advantage of that expertise to deliver
remote control, monitoring, and programming over the home LAN, the Internet–even a wireless phone network!
4 From any Web browser, or using the Apple® iPhoneTM or iPod touch, Prodigy lets you turn off the kitchen lights from your office desktop,
check the security system or temperature from your favorite café, and receive an email alert when the kids get home from school"

havok2022 I would forget about the DIY aspect of this system. Crestrons dealers would hammer them if this system was sold DIY. I don't even see Geek Squad having this product line. I am sure there are many DIYers out that are very capable of getting thi system running, but crestron is looking at pushing volume at this price point.

I meant locking out the capability to do custom modules.

Julie said this is possible to use SIMPL, but only with Prodigy devices.

I would love to see Crestron produce these 2 products for prodigy and make them plug and play via composer.

PTZ camera

Integrated intercom/door bell/ entry cam/ door strike.
Avid Stamp Collector - I really love 39 Cent Stamps

HomeLogic is not for DIYers, it's an Elan product now. You need a minumum order and be a legitimate dealer. Homelogic is much more robust than RTI by any measure. I really suggest many of yu guys to check them out and stop pushing false info about the companies products.

thanks for the info.

I believe what Jim is talking about is controlling the prodigy from a third party module. Not programing modules for the prodigy to control third party devices. Crestron stated it won't integrate with their other equipment. If this is the case then the only way to prevent that would be to not allow third party devices to control it.

Rumor is AVAD, is "in talks" with Crestron for the Prodigy line...

I just got the info from the regional Crestron guy....

Thats why they are "rushing" to get it ready for the AVAD booth.. sad

Control4 guys days are numbered at best....

First Parasound then Martin Logan and B&K, now this.

I second that, but it makes sense. If purchased at AVAD you still cannot use with regular Crestron gear and cannot get hold of SIMPL.

They are going to destroy Life-ware RTI and Netstreams.

Well martin logan is whoring them self's out especially being able to be purchased in the "joke" of a high-end section of the big box store. ALL but parasound have opening orders and yearly commitments. At least what my branch told me. I do however feel that crestron should not rush a product to a booth because just like anything its going to have its issues in the first year.

I do not see why you are looking down apon @v*d and crestron. Because i know that my @v*d is very cautious about selling things you are not authorized for along with trunk slammers. Thats just my opinion. Maybe i took what you are saying wrong and if i did please disregard this. But i dont understand how and why you would look down upon a company for trying to get their product out their and make $$$$

The same goes for us, yeah we may all be passionate about what we do but in reality we wouldn't be doing it if there wasnt a way for us to make $$$. at least i wouldnt with the exception of the elf foundation of course i cant wait to get to the point of being able to do that but thats besides the point.

And besides im sure that is just a rumor. no need to get upset over something that isnt in concrete yet, No hard feelings friends just my opinion.

i didnt look at it that way, yes maybe but thats business folks......Unfortunately

But does anyone know the price point for prodigy? because if its expensive i would still stick to the companies i know and love that i know can be integrated into each-other with the option to expand.

IF prodigy works out and is a good starter then all the company's will have to follow by upgrading there lines and downing the prices while still making a quality product to make it competitive. if they cant then the sad thing is they will be wiped out.

Prodigy currently cannot expand beyond a 12 audio zone system with 6 sources. The product line is very nice looking but it can easily upgraded to Adagio because of such limitations. I would like to see video distribution, more audio zones, more source inputs, and the capabilities for more lighting dimmers/switches. Right now it seems like the system is very limited to what it will do. Does anybody know how many audio zones Control4 will support on one system?
