Do we have to double check HDCP cpoy protection comatability for some DVI inputs on Plasmas?.........The brochure for Hitachi CMP5000 states in the fine print "not compatable with copy protection (HDCP)" Is there a work around?.......does it matter?..........

If you have an HDCP compliant source (like the Samsung HD931 DVD player), then it will only work with an HDCP compliant display. There is no work around. If none of your video sources have HDCP, it doesn't matter.

Is there a HDCP "decoder" available for DVI inputs that are not HDCP copy protection compatable?

No, it would violate the manufacturers' agreements with the DDWG. It's not a big concern right now because there are very few sources that output with HDCP.

So there is no detriment at all to having a DVI HDCP input? It will pass all dvi signals INCLUDING HDCP signals? I want to purchase a projector mainly for playing movies from my G4 computer's DVI video output card. The source material is predominately standard res DVD movies backed up to my hard drive.

Yes, it will pass all DVI signals. Having HDCP insures future compatibility, though recent rulings have made this less of an issue. HDCP is a two-way street. The source device triggers it in the display. If the 'handshake' is completed, everything's cool. If there's no HDCP in the source device, it's just like any other DVI input by the display.
