If you were aware at the time you purchased your 3808, that it was updateable/upgradeable, in a way, you were purchasing something that was not there yet, with the idea new features may be available in the future.
I was seeing a lot of posts about updating the newer models, which should be up to date already, and thought, Hey what about me, and you for that matter.
I didn't think the phrase "Future proofing" would be such a hit.
I'm going to use it more often. :)
