Thank You. It's too bad we can't have access to the IR Lib. It would make things a little easier for our staff. The IR lib is what we are use to.

I appreciate all of the input.

Thanks

the original PE had a IR database that was user configurable, but no one was using it. The IR panels and CCF devices are much more popular, and since no one was using the IRDB, they eventually dropped it.

I have exactly your question and unfortuneately not the answer. But I can't believe that if someone has created this data base it is not editable. It appears to be just in Access but is password protected. Do anyone know the password? It makes much more sense to me also, to be able to store codes in this manner, otherwise why bother with it at all. I program mainly the RC5200s which have a very limited db, but I have seen a SIM2 remote which has a huge db.

james, the password is in the FAQ. I don't know if the latest version of TSS supports it, but PE dropped support for that DB since version 2 (with the inbuilt UEI IR DB in the 2000 the original access DB became useless.

Originally, I worked with Manuel Duarte to create a user program that allowed one to add codes to the database as requested. That program is still here on this website and can be downloaded and used to add codes to the Marantz database. However, it was written for Windows 98 and may be very unstable in XP...

That's how all the non-marantz codes were added. However, most installers find the ability to swap in a button with a quick Control C and Control V much faster than the multiple mouse clicks required to utilize the IR database. Since you can set up devices with all of the labels, graphics etc the way you want them, if you are reusing the same component many times it is much better to use the MERGE command from the file menu to add in a device that you have used before.

If anyone really HAS to have IR codes added to their database, give me a call and I will walk you through using Manuel's program.

Best Regards,

-Eric
