How do you set the limit of how low/high the lift is to go. Is there a limit switch on the lift itself? Is it inside the control box? It has an RF remote if thhat means anything(doubt it).

The Auton lifts I have worked with have a set of plastic screws poking out of the end of the motor tube at a right angle to the axis of the tube. If I remember correctly, the colors of eaxh screw are different. One is upper limit set, the other lower.

Theaterworks' description and my memory of seeing a couple of Auton lifts remind me that the motor looked like a Somfy motor. These motors are used by Stewart Filmscreen and Draper, and motorized shades. They can be quite powerful, so you want to be sure that you do not make an adjustment by accident that might, for instance, make the motor try to lower the lift an inch below where the two parts of the lift meet.

The little screws are indeed for end-of-motion adjustments, and they are pretty easy to use. I can never remember which one is for which end of the run. The motor can be set up in any given product so that the end of the run clockwise in one setup might be UP, while it might be DOWN in another setup.

You will want to check with Auton about this, because you might turn a screw in a direction that will make the assembly bind, and maybe bend or break something, in trying to discover which screw you want to turn in which direction. You have a fifty-fifty chance, if you just turn a screw to see what happens, of making a harmless adjustment. I don't like those odds, so I would contact Auton. If they can't help, try contacting Stewart Filmscreen and see if they can tell you which button is which re clockwise and counterclockwise, not up and down; it may be possible to find this info on Somfy motors via Somfy. I haven't looked.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The limit swith is in the motor tube at one end. I have to check my notes I have at the office and I can try to tell you which one does what. It's a little tricky but once you get it your in good shape. I'll check back and add info if you haven't got it by then.

I just went to www.stewartfilm.com and somehow could not use copy and paste to stick the URL here for a set of instructions that will show you where the adjustments are.

Go to www.stewartfilm.com, click on professional at the left, click on manuals, then choose a model that looks like it might be motorized. I chose the Model A, and found adjustment info and an illustration on pages 12 and 13.

It starts by saying watch out because you can damage the screen if you adjust the wrong end of the throw the wrong way.

The picture will, at best, show you where to look for the screws. You will have to figure out from there whether UP on this Stewart Filmscreen corresponds to UP or to DOWN on your lift.

Contact Auton.
